WINNING TRIX ONE OF TWO ACES FOR DAQMAN: Daqman landed two winners from just two bets on the card at Kelso yesterday, both staked to win 20 points so that he finished in front on the day and completed 11 winners in the week:

WON 9-4 DIMPLE
WON 6-4 TRIXSTER

THERE’S GOLD IN BETDAQ ANTE-POST MARKET: Best place to bet on the Gold Cup? BETDAQ, of course. Meanwhile, Daqman finds another potential clue to Cheltenham at Punchestown today. It’s his supernap in the 3.50 race.

IT WAS DAQMAN FOUND THE CLAN

Join the clan! Daqman’s Fortune Cookies have followed Clan Des Obeaux into Gold Cup prominence, and he won the King George at 12-1 for the horses to follow.

Now Pricewise wants in on the act, naming three bookies out of the legion of layers who will give him 8-1.

Had he looked in the BETDAQ orange he would have found 9.4 in one place, with the most liquidity of any horse in the race and not open to deliberate modification as a response to his lemmings moving in this morning.

Again, with Presenting Percy, 4-1 for gold with most firms, 6.4 in the same BETDAQ ante-post list, there was no need to search the myriad of bookmaker markets.

Thistlecrack, as low as 8-1 in a place, generally 14-1, was 16.0, and Al Boum Photo (14-1) was 17.5. Might Bite, mainly 12-1 and 14-1, was 18.0.

WHISPER FOR THE MAIDEN HURDLE

12.40 Punchestown My man in the long grass reckons Joseph O’Brien, who saddled winners on Friday and Saturday, has a potential hurdles player in Christopher Robin.

The son of Camelot out of a Dansili mare is bred more for a Derby than a Triumph Hurdle. In fact, his dam was half-sister to French Derby winner New Bay and he himself was odds-on favourite as a two-year-old to beat the subsequent 2,000 Guineas hero, Saxon Warrior, when both were trained by Joseph’s father, Aidan O’Brien.

A big maiden-hurdle field, in which there are two Willie Mullins bumper winners, is a tricky place to start. But I’ll have a pound at BETDAQ 25.0 this morning, and ‘whisper who dares!’

3.15 Punchestown Gavin Cromwell lays his stall out today with five runners at Punchestown, including Global Racing, another originally intended for the Flat, this one for Godolphin.

Global Racing, having his first run for Gavin today, after being switched from ‘Shark’ Hanlon, disputed favouritism this morning (at 6.4), with Cher Why Not just edging him in the BETDAQ orange.

3.50 Punchestown The 2018 Cheltenham Champion Bumper winner, Relegate, was launched in this race by Willie Mullins. Clearly highly regarded, she started favourite of 14.

In fact, she won so quietly that she went to post a 25-1 shot at the festival but scored with a blistering turn of foot.

Fasola Tido (magical inspiration) was a warm order for Mullins today, 2.66 BETDAQ offers. Not punished after being hampered, second in a big bumper field at Fairyhouse a month or so back.

OH BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?

1.20 Fontwell A forecast-sunny day at Fontwell, for which Bath trainer Neil Mulholland makes a class-3 start in a race he won two years ago.

He called on Sam Waley-Cohen to land Saturday’s Warwick Classic with Impulsive Star (how did I miss it?) and now asks Richard Johnson to take this opener with My Brother.

On better ground today, after his flop in the mud at Sandown, My Brother would only have to match his big-field second at Cheltenham to be involved in this, stepping up in trip on a much easier track.

He gets 12lb from the likely favourite, Not Never, who is hard to keep together.

Three times in a row, Not Never has won after a longish break before failing at Ascot last month in his first run back after 299 days. It has to be said that the race was a Grade 3 but did Ascot take the edge off him?

3.05 Ffos Las The race commemorates David ‘Dai’ Rees, five times Britain’s Ryder Cup captain. Appropriate if the prize went to his namesake, Pembroke trainer David Rees.

He is currently striking at 50% (2-4), including Gone Platinum’s success in a chase at Bangor last week. The worry for backers is that Gone Platinum has never won over hurdles.

Similarly, winning chaser Fact Flow has been poor over hurdles. I thought maybe the booking of Sam Twiston-Davies might help but there wasn’t a penny for him this morning, with some liquidity left at 33.0.

Value at 9.0 on BETDAQ early mouse, Atomic Rumble scored here at this level (two furlongs shorter) in the Spring and, though a stone higher now, followed up at Aintree with a penalty.

Chief Brody was more severely punished for his Warwick win over 2m in the Spring, and earlier failed to reach the frame in three attempts at a distance like today’s.
