CHAMPION MARATHON CHOICE

⭕ 3.15 Wetherby Geryville, who ran on to be second in the Lincolnshire National, moves back up to a marathon trip here, with champion Brian Hughes doing the steering.

Silver In Disguise throws the ‘go’ switch at Chepstow but has struggled elsewhere. Innisfree Lad and Gwencily, both winners recently, are unlikely to do a repeat so soon at ages 11 and 12.

Your Own Story has placed and could improve any time at age seven but is currently 0-5 over fences.

⭕ 4.25 Wetherby Venetia Williams has a home meeting at Ffos Las but is raiding Wetherby, with her superb jockey, Charlie Deutsch.

She has thought several times of moving Enzo D’Airy up to this sort of trip; he jumps well and is so laid back.

Beakstown is only 1-13 over fences and Famous Bridge is still 10lb higher than his last winning mark.

Percussion has successfully tried the Grand National fences twice in his last three starts – third in both – and we can expect to see him at Aintree, though not in the big one.

Those big fences may have spoiled him for anything else and he has to go back to park tracks 12lb higher than his last successful run. Song Of The Earth is 16lb higher than for his last strike

OISIN CAN SHINE ON CRUELLA

⭕ 6.30 Wolverhampton Oisin Murphy is quietly getting on with restoring his career, and today is a notable rehabilitation.

He has a huge ride back for the Gosdens, with whom he could once boast a 37% strike-rate.

His mount, Cruella De Vill, is owned by Bjorn Nielsen, famous for perhaps the greatest stayer of modern times, Stradivarius, which kept Frankie Dettori high in the jockey stratosphere.

With Frankie pledging that this is his final year in the saddle, Oisin’s every winner for influential connections will be a huge step to the very top, a spot that once seemed to be his for the taking.
