CLASS OF 2018 ARE STARS OF 2019: It’s almost a month before the fat lady sings, but the scores have been written for the big-time two-year-olds to face the music in the next Classic season, which promises to be the hottest for years. Here are Daqman’s ratings for the champions of 2019 before he turns his attention tomorrow to Champions Day previews for Ascot on Saturday.

CHAMPIONS LINE-UP FOR 2019

Leading ratings are darn hot. Daqman can find only a couple of pounds to split the top colts and fillies for 2019 from this year’s two-year-olds in the top yards of Charlie Appleby, Aidan O’Brien and John Gosden.

Calyx was boosted by the performance of his Coventry runner-up, Advertise, against Too Darn Hot, while Iridessa leapt to the front of the fillies’ ratings.

There are precious few opportunities left to send a two-year-old on its way to the top, the last recognised major trial being the Futurity Trophy (formerly the Racing Post) on October 27 at Doncaster.

But fine weather this year has meant adequate preparations not only for next season’s Classics and even the big sprints. Here’s the galaxy of stars.

122 Too Darn Hot (John Gosden) Winner of Solario, Champagne and Dewhurst.
120 Quorto (Charlie Appleby) Winner of the National Stakes at the Curragh.
120 Ten Sovereigns (Aidan O’Brien) Won the Middle Park like a champion sprinter.
118 Iridessa (Joseph O’Brien) Forged clear in the Fillies Mile.
118 Jash (Simon Crisford) Made Ten Sovereigns fight for the Middle Park.
118 Skitter Scatter (Patrick Prendergast) Moyglare winner with authority.
117 Calyx (John Gosden) Not seen since impressive in the Coventry Stakes.
116 Just Wonderful (Aidan O’Brien) Hands and heels riding to win the Rockfel.
115 Advertise (Martyn Meade) Phoenix winner; second in Coventry and Dewhurst.
115 Madhmoon (Kevin Prendergast) Sire faster than Frankel; dam’s sire won the Guineas
114 Mohawk (Aidan O’Brien) National Stakes fourth who won the Royal Lodge Stakes.
113 Hermosa (Aidan O’Brien) Hydrangea’s sister; split Iridessa and Pretty Polyanna in the Fillies Mile.
112 Kessaar (John Gosden) Powered through the mud to win the Mill Reef Stakes.
110 Pretty Polyanna (Michael Bell) Prix Morny winner, fourth Cheveley Park, third Fillies Mile
109 Anthony Van Dyke (Aidan O’Brien) Futurity winner; National Stakes second, Dewhurst third.
109 Persian King (Andre Fabre) Unbeaten after hat-trick between home and away.
108 Sergei Prokofiev (Aidan O’Brien), Coventry third, won Cornwallis.
108 Sangarius (Sir Michael Stoute) Unbeaten Kingman colt until fourth Dewhurst.
108 Sydney Opera House (Aidan O’Brien) Twice lost to Madhmoon; second Royal Lodge.
107 Norway (Aidan O’Brien) Won the longest trial (1m 2f)
105 Fairyland (Aidan O’Brien) Landed Lowther Stakes and Cheveley Park double.

JAMIE SPENCER JOB BOOKING?

2.00 Yarmouth Ginger Fox is chasing rabbits today after failing to catch some mighty hares, and has Richard Hannon nursery winner written all over him.

He ran third to subsequent Mill Reef winner Kessaar at Windsor in July and second at Salisbury in September to Middle Park runner-up Jash. Around 5-2 this morning.

3.30 Yarmouth Yorkshire trainer Philip Kirby has sent one down to Yarmouth just once before: winner!

His filly Kilcoran, a 12.0 BETDAQ offer as I write, looks a ‘hidden horse’ today. Quiet runs in Ireland, then a look-see near home recently. Jamie Spencer booked for the job.

LOVE THE WAY THIS ONE WINS

3.20 Musselburgh Muntadab tries for back-to-back wins, 5lb higher than last year on the soft but with a 7lb claimer taking over to help out.

However, not too much worry on any account, since he’s already recently won at Newmarket on firm, with some of his ratings rise already on board and with a 5lb boy doing the steering in first-time visor (the horse not the pilot).

Muntadab does like to lead, but faces a Mark Johnston front-runner, Love Dreams, who made all at the Goodwood Cocked Hat meeting in the Spring and has just now shed the 6lb rise, after taking in the Royal Hunt Cup and the Bunbury Cup, to mention but two, as they say.

If the going changes, be ready for Cold Stare, winner on soft at Haydock and fifth in the big-field Ayr Silver Cup on heavy ground.

Cold Stare gave the runner-up, Starlight Romance 3lb when winning that Haydock race. Now they meet at levels, so 3lb better as a reward for winning! Love Dreams as a first position at 5.8 BETDAQ.

SPOTTING THE MURPHY STARTER

5.45 Kempton Oisin Murphy, who has a full book of rides at Kempton Park tonight, can start off with a winner at a tasty 6.4 on BETDAQ this morning.

Spot Lite is down in the ratings, dropped in class and back to his winning distance of five furlongs, though lasted out six well enough when finishing close up here in August, 3lb higher and trying to make all.
