7-2 WINNER PAYS THE WAY FOR DAQMAN: Daqman finished in front yesterday, thanks to a good start from Conry (WON 7-2) but his best bet, Shooters Wood, was beaten in the last few yards. This followed winning naps at 3-1 and 7-2. His current naps form is 3112

BETTING ALERT ON THE BETDAQ CARD TONIGHT: Today there’s the handicap snip of the day at Punchestown (or should that be ‘year’, says Daqman); and there’s a betting Alert on tonight’s BETDAQ card at Kempton Park, where Godolphin should complete a double on the day.

HAYDOCK Nicky Henderson has obvious chances with odds-on Ma Filleule (2.50) but there’s good sense behind the strong support for Semi Colon (3.55) this morning. This horse always seems to be inspired when fresh.

LINGFIELD Mickael Barzalona has an interesting ride on four-times CD winner Spin Again (2.40), ignored by punters at 29.0 on BETDAQ, but with the potential to bounce back, his yard coming out of the doldrums, knocking at the door in the last few days.

NOTTINGHAM The three-year-old maiden (3.00) looks like one for Godolphin. Sir Michael Stoute has been struggling with Surreal, and Safarjal has gone backwards since finishing fifth in the Cheshire Oaks in the Spring.

With this in mind, and his defeat of Basingstoke at Leicester, Last Fighter seems a good thing, yet is odds against (2.76 favourite) on BETDAQ this morning. Saeed bin Suroor has a 2-3 record in such races at Nottingham and I reckon he can double up at Kempton tonight.

PUNCHESTOWN Ruby Walsh seems to be on the handicap snip of the day (year?). A Cork run will have brought on Last Time d’Albain, who runs off 97 in this hurdle, but 133 over fences.

The Ballymore Beginners’ Chase is fascinating: Noel Meade launched Pandorama in this and he went on to win the Drinmore (and later a Lexus). Meade completed a Ballymore hat-trick last year with Cross Appeal who, two months later, would win the Paddy Power.

But his Grade-3 novice hurdle winner Sword Of Destiny has to face the much heralded Buckers Bridge – bumper winner at the Punchestown Festival – in what is the novice-chase clash of the season so far.

4.35 KEMPTON (Win Big With Betdaq Multiples Racing Handicap Division 1) Favourites are 3-3 in this and, with the defection of Bold Cross, the BETDAQ market showed 9.0 bar one at 10 o’clock this morning.

Bert The Alert was clear at 3.0, despite a big weight. In fact, thereby hangs a tale: he’s up in the ratings for a class-5 win at Lingfield but actually down in grade, managing to squeeze in at the top of this class-6 handicap.

5.35 KEMPTON (Back Or Lay At betdaq.com Handicap) It’s a sheikh down, with two from Godolphin plus a Hamdan runner, but it’s Saeed bin Suroor who seems to work hardest, earning pennies for the oil rich from these lowly handicaps.

I say ‘lowly’ but this is class 4 and Albasharah could boost the trainer’s strike rate of better than one in four for first time in a handicap.
