WIN! WIN! WIN! 12-1 HIT CAPS THREE-DAY PROFIT: Daqman tried to win three races with five bets and had two winners yesterday at 12-1 (Lord County) and 4-1 (First Assignment) for yet another profitable day. That makes three successive days of success with his system of betting to a fixed profit-yield:

Yesterday (profit 26.25)
WON 12-1 LORD COUNTY
WON 4-1 FIRST ASSIGNMENT

Wednesday (profit 29.70)
WON 11-4 BRISCOLA
WON 5-4 KING OF NEPAL (supernap)

Tuesday (profit 22.70)
WON 5-1 BASSARABAD
WON 11-10 CATAMARAN DU SEUIL (nap)
WON 2-9 OPTIMUS PRINCE (doubled with the nap)

INTO TRIALS DAY 43 POINTS CLEAR OF PRICEWISE: It’s Cheltenham trials day and, as ever on a Saturday, Daqman puts Pricewise on trial, currently with a 43-point level-stakes lead (single-unit stake), their value hunt pinning down 22 winners, 15-7 to Daqman (+ 43 to + 0), so far in the Jumps season.

LAUGHING LITTLE APPLE’S..

12.40 Cheltenham (Triumph Trial) Apple’s Shakira is 3-1 or less for the Triumph itself in March and odds on for this trial to do the double as did Defi Du Seuil for Philip Hobbs last year.

Apple’s Shakira is going for a hat-trick of Cheltenham Triumph trials, after winning both the November and December versions. And is a hub for your Daq Multiples.

Look My Way beat nothing well at Ludlow but Elixir De Nutz (was the dam, Nutz, any more so than those who gave her such an appalling name?) ‘could be anything’, coming from the Defi Du Seuil yard: 12.5 on BETDAQ, with a place saver, is huge insurance against disaster, should the Apple fall.

1.15 Cheltenham Colin Tizzard has won this twice in the last seven years but Sizing Tennessee is 10 now and his status as a long-time novice has to be ‘nearly horse’, even allowing for this drop to handicaps.

He has been placed without winning to horses of some distinction in Whisper, Black Corton and Yanworth, but that rather proves my point.

Ballyandy was well behind him on the first day of the year on this New course (heavy) but he was not 100% and Nigel Twiston-Davies is unlikely to have to eat his words: ‘The world is his oyster!’ he had said. In that case, this race today is his Arkle. He has to win it, and you have to back it (3.9 on BETDAQ early mouse).

Full Irish may also be better than the bare form – ‘a smashing horse’ says another excited trainer – and the first-time tongue-tie may boost his performance.

O O SEVEN: LICENSED TO THRILL

1.50 Cheltenham James Bowen again? The 16-year-old big-race king has the first of three rides today on Shantou Flyer, who will be 6lb lower than when fourth in this last year.

He’s now weighted to run a near dead-heat with Ballyhill after their one-two over today’s New-course CD on the first day of the year.

Coo Star Sivola (4th in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham last March), has yet to live up to his hurdles form over fences.

King’s Odyssey has now returned to the mark of his novices’ handicap success at this meeting two years ago, but hasn’t done much since that day.

Frodon has been a consistent nearly horse, albeit second to Might Bite in the future-stars chase at Sandown in November, closer to that one than was O O Seven in the 2017 RSA. But his best form has been on a soundish surface.

Huge at 12.0 on BETDAQ early mouse, O O Seven would have finished closer but for a mistake at Ascot on the last day and will appreciate this drop back in trip.

The one he has to beat is not Ultragold but ultra-consistent Frodon (9.2 offers), whose jockey, Bryony Frost, is another rising jumps star, and takes off a valuable 5lb.

2.25 Cheltenham Every horse can be forgiven one bad run, and Fortune Cookies are relying on Bristol de Mai (2.86 this morning) to bounce back here after his unexplained flop in the King George.

Like Ultragold, The Last Samuri is being campaigned over the Grand National fences. That affects speed and normal jumping for park courses and both are likely to have targets outside today’s discipline.

FIND THE LADY: A 20-1 PUNT

3.15 Doncaster (old Great Yorkshire) L’Ami Serge has attracted money all the week (down to BETDAQ 3.45 early mouse this morning), has never been out of the frame in a steeplechase, and Davy Russell rides.

Sam Spinner seemed to knock his hurdles career on the head on the last day but, at the same time, revealed that Ami is probably thrown in by around 7lb over fences.

The stats say that a young horse with a light weight is lurking somewhere, trained for this by the usual suspects.

Mustmeetalady(around 20-1) is ‘a grand old horse who jumps and stays’ (says Jonjo) but in fact is only eight. Gamely held off Vibrato Valtat over the Town Moor CD on the last day.

3.35 Cheltenham (Cleeve Hurdle) It’s make or break for Finian’s Oscar, if he is to go back to hurdles at Cheltenham. He’s another one currently in awe of Sam Spinner in the betting: 10.0 in the Stayers Hurdle on BETDAQ to Sam’s 5.5. But if you think he can step up here, take that 10.0.

I have Beer Goggles (proven at 3m) in my horses-to-follow list, and 8.4 this morning is a must investment in this clash of potential.

BUMPER BET GETS THE O KAY

4.20 Doncaster My man in the long grass whispers wonderful words about a newcomer by Coronation Cup winner Shirocco out of a Presenting mare.

The name is It’s O Kay, debuting in this big-field bumper. Davy Russell stays on to ride for a stable which had a bumper winner on this very course last month.

Unfortunately, as he lay prone, his glasses trained on a particularly impressive piece of work on the Warwick gallops, our man was offered an outstretched hand and asked: Do you need any help?

‘It’s O Kay,’ he blurted out, and now the world and his wife seem to know the secret. We can only hope the button will still be pressed. The bigger the field the bigger the certainty.
