NOW DAQMAN NAPS HAT-TRICK LANDS 88 POINTS PROFIT: As six-lengths winner in a chase at Dieppe, Hell Boy landed Daqman’s naps hat-trick and back-to-back supernaps yesterday, though the price was cramped by non-runners, with 1.91 in running best. It all added up to 88 points profit at SP from Daqman’s best bets over the three days.

✔️ WON 2-5 HELL BOY (Friday supernap)
✔️ WON 3-1 AMAZING COMEDY (Thursday supernap)
✔️ WON 19-10 OFTENWORK (Wednesday nap, 6.0 taken on BETDAQ)

TWO SUPERNAPS ON DERBY DAY IN SEVEN HOURS’ SPORT: It’s Derby day today! One of the most famous in French-racing history – started in 1856 – but the annual Bordeaux garden party that smacks of green lawns at Goodwood becomes a brunch for workers only behind closed doors, with just six runners at 11.15 English time for the 164th Derby Du Midi. Daqman has more than seven hours of bets, Bordeaux and Angers to Baden-Baden on a big weekend in Germany. He has two supernaps, one in each country.

FROHSIM FOR ALL-THE-WAY DERBY WIN

⚠️ LEADING FRENCH TRAINERS (Flat) Jean-Claude Rouget 25, Christophe Escuder 24, Christophe Ferland 23, Fabrice Vermeulen 23, Frederic Rossi 21, Francis-Henri Graffard 19, Jerome Reynier 18, Henri-Alex Pantall 17, Didier Guillemin 15, P&F Montfort 15, Philippe Soborg 14, Andrea Marcialis 14, Jean-Pierre Gauvin 14, Nicolas Caullery 11, Fabrice Chappet 10.

⚠️ LEADING JOCKEYS Pierre-Charles Boudot 58, Maxime Guyon 43, Christophe Soumillon 41, Cristian Demuro 30, Anthony Crastus 29, Eddy Hardouin 23, Julien Auge 23, Axelle Nico 19, Aurelien Lemaitre 18, Delphine Santiago 18.

⚠️ BORDEAUX (2019) Trainers Didier Guillemin 11, Jean-Claude Rouget 10. Jockeys: Francois-Xavier Bertras 9, Jean-Bernard Eyquem 7, Guillaume Trolley De Prevaux 5.

⭕ 11.15 Bordeaux Le Bouscat (Derby Du Midi) Won last year by Jean-Claude Rouget with Taos, a son of Richard Hannon’s Sussex Stakes and Queen Anne winner, Toronado.

Jean-Claude is back with Fantastic Spirit, two out of three this year, but Frohsim can beat that (2-2). A handy sort by a fast sire but has it in his pedigree to stay the trip twice over, and will no doubt try to make all (back-and-lay).

Coco Caline looks best of the fillies but Frohsim is the improver from the stables of third-placed trainer Christophe Ferland, with Julien Ange in the saddle, sixth or seventh in the jockeys’ table.

⭕ 12.15 Bordeaux Le Bouscat (Grand Prix de Bordeaux) Joe Francais found the French Derby too hard last season but hasn’t been beaten as hot favourite both times (2-2) this year, including over CD on the last day.

The experienced horse (gelding actually) of quality is the grey Mr Satchmo who won the 2018 Derby Du Midi on this card. He was out in February in a Group-1 at Doha and will be hard to beat under Olivier Peslier. I took 4.0 on BETDAQ.

⭕ 1.17 Bordeaux By Golden Horn out of a Danehill mare, Influx was an impressive winner in Provence last week for Christophe Ferland and Julien Auge, and now seems ready for this step up in class.

Mensen Ernst has had experience at this level and Jean-Claude Rouget has booked one of the track’s leading riders, Jean-Bernard Eyquem, for this son of French Derby winner, Intello.

⭕ 1.52 Bordeaux Maxime Guyon rides for Gavin Hernon here. The stable has had a winner since the resumption and Irish-bred filly Guardian Fay, a six-lengths Saint-Cloud winner, drops down from a German Group 1 for his first run for a new yard. Looked good value at 5.0 on BETDAQ early mouse.

The Hurricane Run grey Pirata Tesoro won a handicap at Longchamp but was beaten in a conditions race like this one on the last day.

NAMOS TO TAKE GERMAN GROUP SPRINT

⭕ 2.00 Baden Baden This Group-3 sprint is a rerun of a Listed a furlong further at Hannover when the racing resumption started.

The second and third behind Majestic Colt that day are weighted to change places: Tosen Shauna (gets 2lb for a neck defeat) and Namos, the favourite then, is now 4lb better for threeparts of a length.

Namos readily won today’s race as a three-year-old last year and, match fit now after the Hannover return, is taken to score back to back for Dominik Moser and Wladimir Panov.

⭕ 3.30 Baden Baden Group 2 just short of a mile. Axana tried ‘do a Mark Johnston’ and make all in the German 1,000 Guineas of 2019 at Dusseldorf but was just caught in the last 50 yards by Johnston himself with the Joe Fanning ridden English raider, Main Edition.

A Group-3 fillies and mares winner since, Axana, trained by Andreas Wohler, who won the King George with Novellist, was pipped a short-head on her return at Hannover, giving 4lb to the winner.

She holds the third, Nica, on that form, and the colts she takes on – her first big race in mixed company – are no great shakes, though Sugar Daddy, who beat Majestic Colt last autumn, might be a threat if the ground came up very soft.

I’VE FOUND A THRILL IN BLUEBERRY HILL

⚠️ LEADING FRENCH TRAINERS (Jumps) Francois Nicolle 52, Guillaume Macaire 28, David Cottin 26, Emmanuel Clayeux 18, Gaby Leenders 18, P&C Peltier 11, Hector de Lageneste 10, Arnaud Chaille-Chaille 9.

⚠️ LEADING JOCKEYS Clement Lefebvre 19, Angelo Zuliani, 15, Felix De Giles 14, Charlotte Prichard 12, Alain De Chitray 11, Nathalie Desoutter 11, Kevin Nabet 10.

⚠️ ANGERS (2019) Trainers:Francois Nicolle 6, Alain Couetil 3, Yves Fertillet 3. Jockeys: Johnny Charron 7, Alexis Poirier 3.

⭕ 4.17 Angers The meeting starts with two hurdles, a claimer and a conditions race. Che Salome gets all the allowances in this claimer and is the only one to have been placed on the last day.

⭕ 4.52 Angers Francois Nicolle has scored 14 winners in 14 days, and here fields Blueberry Hill, a Kapgarde, whom we know as sire of Clan Des Obeaux and A Plus Tard.

Leading jockey Clement Lefebvre rides the Gaby Leenders gelding, Baladin De Mesc. Watch out also for any market moves for Sin del Ria and Flat-placed Faldex.

WALLY IS DOWN IN CLASS FOR CORALIE

⚠️ LEADING FRENCH TRAINERS (Flat) AND JOCKEYS See top of the page.

⚠️ ANGERS (2019) Trainers Alain Couetil 3, Eric Libaud 3. Jockeys: Alexandre Roussel 8, Maryline Eon 4, Lucie Oger 3.

⭕ 5.27 Angers The money was down at Pau in December for Alain Couetil’s Deauville winner Dylaban, a veteran son of Dylan Thomas, ridden by Maryline Eon. An 11.0 value bet on BETDAQ.

They team up again here in a lesser race, in which Dylaban has the advantage of a low draw over recent third Bafana Linngari (in stall 16) and Shamdor in 13.

⭕ 6.00 Angers Convicted (10), Split Step (13) and Ucel (14) have all been drawn out wide, and may let in Gottingen (from the 5 stall) who seldom runs a bad race and is sharp from his Chantilly sixth on the last day.

⭕ 6.30 Angers Aljumayliyah won on the Chantilly AW in December but flopped when favourite at a country track on the last day.

Jean-Claude Rouget thought the Siyouni grey Wally good enough to try a Group 3 at Chantilly (beaten less than four lengths) after winning a Deauville maiden in August.

Drops in class here, with Coralie Pacaut getting a chance to add to 37 turf wins in the last year.
