HEY THERE, GREGARIOUS GIRL

Eight race meetings on Saturday, two today. One extreme to the other.

They race at Brighton and Worcester (with Group race action at Longchamp too). The ground is rapidly drying up at Brighton – this morning good to firm, yesterday good to soft.

2.00 Brighton Rossa Ryan continues to impress and is on a purple patch (9 winners from his last 31 rides) he can strike in the opener onboard the in-form Terri Rules.

She was a course and distance winner here in June and clearly loves the sea air as she has gone on to win twice at Yarmouth too. She’s up another 3lb for her latest success but this is offset by Ryan’s claim and he is very much value for that.

The drying ground should suit Jeopardy John who was only beaten half a length over course and distance here in July but he hasn’t run so well in two subsequent starts and remains a maiden after 12 starts.

Another maiden is the Mick Channon trained Dusty who is switched back to the minimum trip after a spell over six. Her overall form is modest though, including a third here last time out when she was beaten nearly nine lengths.

2.30 Brighton Gregarious Girl is a much bigger price than I was expecting and rates as the nap of the day.

This looks a desperately poor contest and the form of her Windsor third to Lively Lydia stands out, even though she was beaten six lengths that day. It was only her second start and she made big improvement on her debut effort at Yarmouth which hopefully suggests she can improve further today.

If there’s a danger, it’s likely to come from the two debutants. Finch Hatton and Irene May (one of two runners for Sylvester Kirk) wouldn’t need to be world beaters. Early betting suggests Finch Hatton is the stronger fancied of the pair but it’s not the easiest course to make a winning debut at.

5.15 Worcester The concluding maiden hurdle looks a match up between Settimo Milanese and Massini’s Dream but I think the market has got it wrong in preferring the former.

For me, Massini’s Dream has the better overall profile and in receipt of her mares allowance looks a solid bet. She has run consistent races in her last three starts at Worcester (twice) and Ffos Las and whilst Settimo Milanese was a course and distance runner-up last time out it came in a race that looks even more modest than this.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 20 points)
BET 5pts win TERRI RULES (2.00 Brighton)
BET 9pts win (nap) GREGARIOUS GIRL (2.30 Brighton)
BET 7.5pts win MASSINI’S DREAM (5.15 Worcester)
