SAM WILL HAVE YOU IN STITCHES

⭕ 3.01 Market Rasen Dr Richard Newland has a 22% strike rate at Market Rasen with a 22-point level-stakes profit. Ten will get you eight this morning that he can add to his score.

He’s booked Sam Twiston-Davies for the one ride there this afternoon, Thirtyfourstitches, who won for him on this course in March over 2m 7f, his fourth win since changing stables in October, two of them on good ground.

Mega Yeats won a mares’ novice here three years back. She has failed to score again, and her rating has slipped a stone and a half.

That gives her a squeak but she’s no Noble Yeats, so maybe Enfin Phil will give the selection most to do, though it’s four years since he won off a mark this high.

I LOVE FINAL OFFERS ON BETDAQ

⭕ 3.10 Fairyhouse (Mares Novice Hurdle Championship Final) Seven out of the last eight favourites have won this, among them Annie Power and Honeysuckle.

And I see no reason to oppose Love Envoi (3.55 on BETDAQ despite being winner of five on the bounce), even with the onslaught against her of eight Willie Mullins runners.

Willie’s seeming best is Brandy Love. She is around 10lb behind in my ratings – that’s being generous to her – and she jumped violently to her left when last seen on this course (hence the hood she wears today).

ATLANTIS TO GIVE GOSDEN FIVE

⭕ 3.21 Newbury STATS: A 1m 2f maiden fillies for three-year-olds, which Team Gosden has won four times in the last six, including with Star Catcher (2019), winner of the Ribblesdale, Irish Oaks and Vermeille before being crowned British Champion (Fillies And Mares) in the October after six months on the go from maiden to champion.

FORM: Two of the Gosden quartet had been out on AW but his eyecatcher here, Atlantis, has come straight to the race. ‘Straight’ is the operative word; we have to assume she is ready.

Atlantis is a grey daughter of Sea The Stars out of a Sir Percy mare, who has had one Group winner from her first five foals, but there’s an Arc winner down one side of the pedigree and a Derby winner down the other, if only the blood will magically mingle.

The royal runner, Discretion, and Charlie Appleby’s Life Of Dreams are both Dubawis, Life Of Dreams out of a mare with stamina-packed credentials.

She may need further than this but Appleby can do no wrong at the moment, and everything else is easy to back BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE Atlantis 9.9

DUBAWIS COULD BE BLOWN AWAY

⭕ 3.56 Newbury STATS:This 1m 2f conditions race last year produced Hurricane Lane, the Dante winner, Epsom Derby third and Irish Derby winner, for trainer-in-form and champion of England, Charlie Appleby.

FORM: Appleby has two Godolphin players here among five-only runners, both Dubawis: Hafit was beaten a neck in an autumn Group 3 at Newmarket (Berkshire Rebel fifth); Walk Of Stars won a soft-ground maiden at Nottingham and has been walking the walk of stars at home this year..

West Wind Blows, a Teofilo out of a French Oaks winner, took his maiden on Tapeta. He was hooded that day. The headgear is dropped and Ryan Moore brought in to do the job at huge offers, around 29.0.

THIS FESTIVAL FORM IS SWINGING

⭕ 4.35 Plumpton (Sussex Champion Hurdle) Midnights Legacy has won four times in fields of three, four and seven, one of them here at Plumpton.

Aucunrisque landed a novice hat-trick before finding Jonbon and company too much for him in the Top Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree.

Plumpton novice winner twice, Mark Of Gold won an open handicap at Newbury from a previous winner there, Black Coffee.

But, though starting at 80-1, the Fakenham scorer Swinging London ran a cracker in the Grade-3 Boodles (ex-Fred Winter) at the Cheltenham Festival..

The immediate question is whether, as a four-year-old, he can sustain that form at this time. Olly Murphy won the race in 2019 with a 10-1 shot off a similar mark. This one is 4.5 on BETDAQ this morning.

13.0 FOR A RIVIERE HOLIDAY PUNT

⭕ 4.55 Fairyhouse (Gold Cup Novice Chase) Galopin Des Champs would also be coming here with five in a row, if he had maintained his 12-lengths lead over Bob Olinger at Cheltenham but he fell at the last.

It wasn’t the only time during the race that he revealed his suspect jumping; he was like a scalded cat over the early fences, and his only serious rival ‘made a noise’. Bob Olinger’s awkward head carriage suggested he wasn’t himself.

Galopin Des Champs’ price this morning is dismissive of the opposition, and – Gold Cup or no – going for a clear round after the Cheltenham mishap is the right thing to do.

The only ‘hidden horse’ in the race today is, in fact, a mare – Riviere d’Etel – who looks exposed after six chases (form figures 11122), culminating in her defeat in the Arkle by Edwardstone.

But she is completely unexposed at 2m 4f, and gets 7lb mares’ allowance. I’d been wondering why she didn’t try longer distances, bred as she is to do so and win at the highest level.

Now is the time to make her mark (at 13.0 on BETDAQ) if she can catch an odds-on favourite (offers of 1.25) who may have been mentally jolted by the Cheltenham incident.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
