DAQMAN A DOZEN TIMES BETTER

Daqman wins 12-0. The BETDAQ tipping ace, who gives free daily selections on this site, has beaten Pricewise of the Racing Post every single season – Flat and Jumps – for six years in a row in their value challenge.

His final score for the 2019 Flat season ended yesterday was 87 wins, showing remarkable consistency, after 86, 87 and 88 totals in the previous three Flat seasons.

The overall score in the six years is 739-297, with Daqman taking 71% of the 1,036 returns landed between them.

To a single unit stake, Daqman finished 27 points in profit on the 2019 season, with Pricewise sustaining a 65-point loss. To 10-point stakes per selection, +276 against -655.

Daqman’s winnings were considerably more at BETDAQ offers, which his big-race results table next week will show, but returns have to be assessed at SP because there are only limited guarantees, if any, on bookmakers’ prices quoted in the Racing Post and BETDAQ offers fluctuate with trading.

ABACADABRAS COULD BE MAGIC

12.35 Navan On collateral form, Abacadabras, the Punchestown champion bumper runner-up, rates a stone and more behind Fast Buck but these novice hurdles are a tricky choice for punters: form or potential?

And, though he can’t claim high ratings in the book, Abacadabras’ fourth in the Cheltenham Champion Bumper, looks the epitome of potential, since winner and third, Envoi Allen and Thyme Hill, have both scored emphatically this month.

1.05 Navan (Lismullen Hurdle) Apple’s Jade goes for the hat-trick in this. She scored six times in November and December on her 2017 and 2018 reappearances, and has taken today’s race on both good and heavy ground.

Bacardys hasn’t won since he was Punchestown Champion Novice of 2017, and Magic Of Light could be prepping for a mares chase at Clonmel next week. The Aintree Grand National runner-up will surely find this trip very sharp.

‘SEE YOU LATER’ FORTRIA TRAP

2.10 Navan (Fortria Chase): The 13-lengths Arkle winner at Cheltenham, Duc Des Genievres, was likely favourite to give Willie Mullins a fourth win in the Fortria.

But he goes head to head with another wide-margin Cheltenham winner last March, A Plus Tard, who edged him out at the front of the BETDAQ market this morning.

His Cheltenham strike was a only a handicap, but A Plus Tard demolished his field 16 lengths, and he beat Duc Des Genievres last season over three furlongs further than today.

Though today’s 2m may be on the short side, A Plus Tard gets a year in age and 8lb in weight off Duc Des Genievres this afternoon, which recommends that Rachael Blackmore force the issue here, so that it could well be a case of ‘see you later’ with A Plus Tard.

In fact, the ratings suggest there’s more to this than the market implies: running them all off 12st, you get 173 A Plus Tard, 172 Ballyoisin, 167 Duc Des Genievres,

So we can’t entirely rule out last year’s winner of this race, Ballyoisin, and Duc Des Genievres clearly has to find something.

He was even money when unable to give 7lb to A Plus Tard when A Plus Tard was only a four-year-old at Naas last December.

Should A Plus Tard and Rachael Blackmore try to jump every fence in front, any ground they make will be hard to recoup in the heavy ground.

COPPER BOOSTED TALKISCHEAP

2.25 Sandown (Future Stars Intermediate Chase) Despite small fields this race has lived up to its name, with Coneygree, Might Bite and Elegant Escape among recent winners.

The 2017 renewal had Frodon second to Might Bite, and again today Santini and Talkischeap could both have Fortune Cookies potential after this race.

Santini is 132 in three runs at Cheltenham, second in the RSA, but needs to win this and go close in the King George if he is to stake his Gold Cup claim against the likes of Lostintranslation.

Talkischeap, who had a decent novice career, took a massive leap forward when winning the Sandown Gold Cup in April. The fourth horse, Give Me A Copper, was impressive yesterday.

Santini was long odds on this morning, making Talkischeap look a bit of value at 5.5 on BETDAQ.
