THREE WEEKS OF CHELTENHAM

Cheltenham 2020 vision! The world’s top Jumps meeting starts a fortnight on Tuesday and the build-up begins next week, when entries and handicapping will all be known.

⭕ WEEK 1: See How They Won. Where do the winners come from? Which prep races produce festival results year on year? Look out on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, matching each report with its day at Cheltenham.

PLUS Wednesday (so in Thursday’s column) the weights will be revealed for the big festival handicaps. That’s where Daqman is hottest!

⭕ WEEK 2: Race-by-race stats. Which stables, which jockeys; what age and weight are successful? Where are the keys to winning bets? What other facts find winners or lay-down losers? Again each report matches its corresponding day at Cheltenham.

PLUS Create your own winning rules; get bigger value; let the losers take care of themselves.

⭕ WEEK 3: Cheltenham 2020. Analysis of each race by Daqman, who tipped 14 consecutive winning lays over three festivals and winners like these (see Daqman Library):

WON 14-1 Le Breuil (NH Chase)
WON 12-1 Ballynagour (Byrne Group Plate)
WON 12-1 Spring Heeled (Kim Muir)

WON 8-1 Cause Of Causes (NH Chase, 45.0 ante-post BETDAQ)
WON 11-2 Al Boum Photo (Ryanair)
WON 5-1 A Plus Tard (Close Brothers)
WON 5-1 Early Doors (Martin Pipe)
WON 5-1 Sprinter Sacre (Champion Chase)
WON 5-1 Vroum Vroum Mag (Mares Hurdle)

CASTLEGRACE DROPPED IN CLASS

2.10 Naas Willie Mullins won this last year with Cadmium, on his way to Topham Trophy success at Aintree.

Cadmium is currently 34.0 for the Ryanair at Cheltenham and the same price 34.0 for the Grand National in the BETDAQ Sportsbook but his recent form suggests that, though the fences are no concern, the National will be a trip too far.

Any Second Now, the Kim Muir winner and recent third in the Leopardstown Chase, has a better chance at Aintree, and his drop in trip here is probably to sharpen his jumping.

A Naas CD winner in this small field is last year’s Arkle third Articulum, and Gordon Elliott is hopeful that Hardline can bounce back.

Hardline gave Min something to think about when they were one-two in the John Durkan but he has disappointed since.

I shall have my euro on mudloving Castlegrace Paddy (at BETDAQ 6.8 this morning). He’s kept Grade-1 company (the likes of Altior!) since winning the Hilly Way by 16 lengths from Doctor Phoenix, who was three-lengths second to Cadmium in this Naas race 12 months ago.

SOMEONE BOOSTED DARBY WIN

3.20 Fontwell (National Spirit Hurdle) Champion Hurdle outsider, Thomas Darby, had his Ascot handicap win (on heavy) boosted yesterday by the runner-up, Song For Someone, who won the Kingwell Hurdle (transferred from Wincanton to Kempton).

William Henry and Chesterfield are 10 now, and Welsh Champion Hurdle winner, Monsieur Lecoq, tries a new trip.

Quel Destin is clearly the main danger to Thomas Darby on his Listed hurdle success at Sandown but he, too is up in distance.

3.30 Wolverhampton I couldn’t fancy horses aged 12 (Bally Lagan) and 15 (What A Laugh) winning a bumper.

Don’t Ask hasn’t scored for nearly two years, and G’Day Aussie and Hatcher (a decent chaser) not far off. What A Laugh is another chaser (0-7 over hurdles).

So it will be a surprise if a Grade-2 hurdle runner-up, Irish Roe, can’t dispose of this lot. He won three bumpers way back when. I could get 8.9 for 10 on BETDAQ.
