RACHAEL BLACKMORE LEADS ST PATRICK’S DAY PARTY: Six out of seven for the Irish on St Patrick’s Day yesterday, and that’s to deny Jonjo O’Neill his birthright! He is an Irishman with the only English-based stable to get a look-in yesterday on the treasure trove that is Cheltenham, and the score is now 11-3 to the Irish invaders.

▪️ Top trainers: Willie Mullins 3, Henry de Bromhead 3. Jockeys: Rachael Blackmore 3, Jack Kennedy 2, Paul Townend 2.

▪️ Going: Times have been fast and the courses, New and Old, continue to dry out.

DAQMAN 33-18 UP ON PRICEWISE AT HALFWAY STAGE: With two days to go, latest score in the value challenge is 33-18 to Daqman, who is 515.76 in profit to 10-point stakes with Pricewise on 219.41. The Daqman Lays Logic is 4-1 up from its first five recommendations. The headlines today:

THE ONE AND ONLY ENVOI ALLEN

⭕ 1.20 Cheltenham (Marsh Novices’ Chase)

REPRISE: See Festival stats (Daqman Archive: Thursday, March 11)

RATINGS: Envoi Allen 164, Chatham Street Lad 156, Darver Star 154

TRAINER: Asterion Forlonge, Blackbow

FORM: Envoi Allen, who fits all the stats and is unbeaten in 11 starts, goes for a Cheltenham Festival hat-trick after the Champion Bumper and the Ballymore in consecutive seasons

The Big Breakaway was no advertisement for his Kempton conqueror, Shan Blue (Ladbrokes Kauto Star Chase) when a long way back, third of four behind Monkfish yesterday.

Fusil Raffles finished in front of odds-on stablemate Chantry House when they met on this New course in December.

It would be unusual to see a nine-year-old (Chatham Street Lad and Champion Hurdle third last year Darver Star) winning a novice prize at this level. So it can only be..

🟪 SELECTION: Envoi Allen

AND THE 2021 OSCAR GOES TO..

⭕ 1.55 Cheltenham (Pertemps Hurdle Final)

REPRISE: See Festival stats (Daqman Archive: Thursday, March 11)

TRAINER: The Bosses Oscar

FORM: If you fancy Flooring Porter for the Stayers Hurdle (Grade 1) later on, you must have an interest in 7.1 BETDAQ offer The Bosses Oscar, who was favourite, second to him in a Grade 3, at Navan before Christmas, with Jordan Gainford now taking off 7lb, cancelling out his ratings rise.

Then Oscar failed by a length to give 4lb to Dandy Mag in the Leopardstown Pertemps qualifier (with Mrs Milner fourth, Anything Will Do fifth). Now he does not give, but gets, 4lb.

Come On Teddy turned over a favourite here at Cheltenham in December who would go on to be third in the Rendlesham (Grade 2).

And the last day at Warwick, in his Pertemps qualifier, he himself was third as favourite but is now 8lb better with the winner, Imperial Alcazar.

Brinkley, who looks a fine chasing prospect, would have to be considered if the rains returned but the ground is still drying out as far as I know.

🟪 SELECTION: The Bosses Oscar

BETDAQ VALUE: Come On Teddy 12.5 0% COMMISSSION ON BETDAQ

RYANAIR HEADLINE FAKIR NEWS

⭕ 2.30 Cheltenham (Ryanair Chase)

REPRISE: See Festival stats (Daqman Archive: Thursday, March 11)

RATINGS: Min 168, Melon 165, Chris’s Dream 164.

TRAINER: Allaho, Melon, Min, Tornado Flyer

FORM: Cheltenham course form is a big bonus: 12 out of 14 Ryanair winners had previously won at Cheltenham or placed in Grade 1 there.

Allaho was an unlucky third (stumbled) to Champ in the then RSA a year ago, when Imperial Aura won the novices’ chase, beating Tuesday’s winner Galvin and today’s Kim Muir fancy, Hold The Note.

Fakir d’Oudairies’ efforts at previous festivals look even better this morning, as runner-up over 2m to Put The Kettle On in last year’s Arkle, and to Chacun Pour Soi in the Dublin Chase.

He was fourth in the Supreme and he’s proved his worth over fences at today’s trip when 22-lengths winner of the Drinmore.

🟪 SELECTION: Fakir d’Oudairies (7.4 offers)

BETDAQ VALUE: Imperial Aura 11.0 BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE

MEADE COULD HAVE EDGE AGAIN

⭕ 3.05 Cheltenham (Stayers Hurdle)

REPRISE: See Festival stats (Daqman Archive: Thursday, March 11)

RATINGS: Paisley Park 165, Sire Du Berlais 160, Flooring Porter 160.

TRAINER: Bacardys

FORM: Lisnagar Oscar was a surprise 50-1 winner last year when 6-4 on favourite Paisley Park ran below par and lost a shoe.

Oscar had a poor autumn but was back to a bit of form in the Rendelsham last month, second to Third Wind, though that one had been beaten narrowly by Main Fact at Haydock and a wide margin by Paisley Park in the Long Walk.

Thyme Hill, Ladbrokes Long Distance Hurdle winner over Paisley Park, has had to miss today’s race.

Flooring Porter has been supplemented after beating The Storyteller with Sire Du Berlais back in third, Fury Road fourth, Bacardys pulled up, in the Ladbrokes Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown. Likely to improve again, still only six, but a quirky type who might try to ‘do a Goshen.’

Fury Road’s Navan conqueror, Beacon Edge, third to Honeysuckle in the Hattons Grace in the autumn, was having his first run after a bout of colic and he is bred to welcome today’s step up in trip.

His trainer, Noel Meade, has already provided the shock of the meeting so far with 80-1 Jeff Kidder winning the Fred Winter. Meade has withdrawn Diol Ker, who beat Monkfish to break his maiden.

Horses aged six and seven are six out of seven, and Flooring Porter and Beacon Edge look progressive against Paisley Park, who needs to be on top of his game.

🟪 SELECTION: Paisley Park

BETDAQ VALUE Flooring Porter 15.5, Beacon Edge 16.0

SHUNTER £100,000 BONUS SHOW

⭕ 3.40 Cheltenham (Stable Plate Handicap Chase)

REPRISE: See Festival stats (Daqman Archive: Thursday, March 11)

TRAINER: Eamon An Cnoic

FORM: J P McManus had had two seconds and a third at the festival this week coming into today, when his trainers intended saddling 13 runners in the orange and green colours.

Dead Right has been put away for J P to win this, and the horse has to be fresh and to have good ground (form on goodish 111221; on soft-heavy 20PP).

A ‘hidden horse’ also saved up for this is Happy Diva, runner-up last year off a 4lb higher mark and five times a winner on good to soft, including over today’s CD.

Another of J P’s, A Wave Of The Sea, beat The Shunter at Leopardstown last month but is worse off now with The Shunter, who won the Grade-3 Greatwood here on the Old course in November. He’s up in trip but has won a chase over even further.

The Leopardstown form was franked yesterday when the fourth horse, Entoucas, was beaten just a short-head in the Grand Annual.

The Shunter scored at Kelso earlier in the month and would grab a guaranteed £100,000 bonus if he lands this second leg this afternoon.

Following on Tiger Roll and Defi Du Seuil, Farclas was the 2018 Triumph winner before landing a chase hat-trick with his first three starts, all on good ground.

🟪 SELECTION: The Shunter, Farclas

BETDAQ VALUE: Happy Diva 28.0, Dead Right 38.0 (7.4 the place this morning).

MULLINS TO HOOK SIX IN A ROW

⭕ 4.15 Cheltenham (Mares’ Novices Hurdle)

REPRISE: See Festival stats (Daqman Archive: Thursday, March 11)

TRAINER: Willie Mullins has won this every time – four aged five and using four different jockeys – but with SP ranging from 4-7 to 50-1 in the five years.

FORM and RATINGS: Just two of the Mullins’ quartet have official ratings (Gauloise 140, Hook Up 136) but the late developer Pont Aval has run only one bad race (on heavy) and could stay on into a place before stepping back up to 2m 4f at Punchestown.

Royal Kahala beat Hook Up on heavy and is 9lb better for two lengths with last-day conqueror, Roseys Hollow, in the Solerina; Gauloise third, Mighty Blue well-beaten fourth.

But Hook Up improved to be fourth in the Pharma (ex-Deloitte) against the males at the Dublin Festival. That race was won by Tuesday’s Supreme star, Appreciate It.

🟪 SELECTION: Hook Up 7.6

BETDAQ VALUE: Pont Aval 54.0 (place 10.0)

TRY TO FINISH ON A HIGH NOTE

⭕ 4.50 Cheltenham (Kim Muir Challenge Cup)

REPRISE: See Festival stats (Daqman Archive: Thursday, March 11)

TRAINERS: Mount Ida (as Gordon Elliott)

FORM: Morning Vicar made all on a sound surface at Newbury but is likely to have company up front from Crievehill and Storm Control who will both appreciate today’s surface.

Sizing At Midnight is a good-ground horse but high in the weights and with his stable still in the doldrums most of the time.

🟪 SELECTION: Hold The Note 9.9 Third at the meeting 5lb higher last year, and back to form after wind ops.

BETDAQ VALUE: Hold The Note 10.0, Storm Control 19.5

LAYS LOGIC: With the going change, I shall take on Mount Ida. I can’t find a mare that’s won the Kim Muir though, after Tiger Roll, Gordon Elliott (aka Denise Foster) is a law unto himself.

As a Yeats, she should get the trip but has a male mob of front-runners to catch, so I’d want at least 10-1.
