SUPERNAP DOUBLE WITH RACING ALL-DAY: Two big meetings; two supernaps. That’s Daqman’s call today, as he analyses the racing at Goodwood this afternoon and Sandown tonight. His headlines:

YOU GOTTA BE SWIFT AT GOODWOOD
SABRE CUTS A DASH ON THE FAR RAIL
TIME ON MOORE’S SIDE AT SANDOWN
MY WORD! IT’S A SECOND SUPERNAP

YOU GOTTA BE SWIFT AT GOODWOOD

2.00 Goodwood The double bill at Goodwood (afternoon) and Sandown (evening) has big stalls advantages at both.

In this opening handicap at Goodwood, five out of the last six winners were drawn in the low five stalls, including Gossiping last year; he’s 4lb higher today from gate 6.

Likely pacemaker Love Dreams (next door in 7) has beaten both Gossiping and Mostahel in his last five outings.

I fancy Swift Approval (from 4) has an each-way shout, back up to his winning distance (seven times) and with Andrea Atzeni booked at 9.2 on BETDAQ early mouse.

He’s nearly a stone better in with Star Quality on their one-two at Kempton, and seems generally well placed in the handicap, though badly off with Charles Molson, who ran well in the Victoria Cup.

But that one has form figures at Goodwood of 00000, was down the field from a wide draw in this race last year and hasn’t fared much better with stall 9 today.

3.10 Goodwood Eight out of 10 winners came out of the low six stalls, and Martineo hasn’t been punished in his prep runs for first-time handicapping today: 7.0 in the usual BETDAQ value orange.

The question will be answered: was 6f scorer Sing Out Loud merely running through tired horses at the end of a mile on the last day? He certainly wasn’t fancied at 50-1 and today is half as far again as his winning distance.

3.45 Goodwood (Height Of Fashion Stakes) Snow Fairy did the double (2010), taking this trial before winning the Oaks but this modestly subscribed race won’t have any bearing on the Classic this time around.

SABRE CUTS A DASH ON THE FAR RAIL

6.35 Sandown (National Stakes) The last seven winners came out of stalls 1, 2, 3, 4, with five trained by Team Hannon, whose Wedding Date has a bit more to do coming from gate 7. She’s enjoyed the short-runners tracks at Brighton and Chester so far.

Blown By The Wind made all at Ascot but has to get across from the 9 stall today, so Vintage Brut (5.3 on BETDAQ) and Sabre (8.4) – stalls 1 and 3 – have their chance of taking the far-rail position where most winners come from.

7.05 Sandown (Heron Stakes) The Frankel colt Without Parole was my first choice for the 2,000 Guineas but had a minor setback. Here’s his chance to make up for lost time, with every 10 invested paying a fraction short of seven in the BETDAQ orange this morning.

TIME ON MOORE’S SIDE AT SANDOWN

7.35 Sandown (Henry 11 Stakes) Top-class stayers have won this, including Gold Cup and Goodwood Cup winner, Big Orange a year ago.

The forecast rain would put the ground right for the two Chester Cup winners, Montaly (last year), who beat Dubai Gold Cup runner-up Sheikhzayedroad at York, and Magic Circle (this), but this Chester-Sandown double has never been done.

An easing of the surface will also bring in Irish St Leger placed Mount Moriah. He, too, has beaten Sheikhzayedroad and was hampered behind Weekender over shorter at Ascot.

Though he’s by the 10-furlong horse Frankel and has never raced at today’s trip, Weekender was clear at the front of the BETDAQ orange this morning.

The market also said that Montaly (16.0), Red Verdon (16.6) and Weekender’s stablemate, Glencadam Glory (19.0) were not fancied.

Ignore Time To Study’s Chester Cup run, his Sagaro Stakes second puts him in line for this on the stable’s favourite course, with Ryan Moore lined up to do the business, and the 9.2 BETDAQ offers far too big.

MY WORD! IT’S A SECOND SUPERNAP

8.10 Sandown (Brigadier Gerard Stakes) Laraaib is defending an 8-10 record for four-year-olds in the decade, and Sir Michael Stoute is defending a record eight wins in the race.

If the ground remains firm, Laraaib comes into it but both he and Fabricate are Group 3 at best.

Poet’s Word (second to Cracksman at Ascot and beat Desert Encounter twice) won’t really mind, rain or shine. Paying 6.7 to 10 invested on BETDAQ this morning.
