GUINEAS BACKERS IN BETDAQ BOOST: Daqman headlined yesterday that the BETDAQ 3.5 Native Trail was big value for the 2,000 Guineas before yesterday’s Newmarket trial. Native Trail duly won the Craven Stakes in fast time and is now a general 6-4 with bookmakers.

HAVE YOU BEEN PICKING APPLEBYS? On the final day at Newmarket today, Daqman previews the Feilden Stakes. On Saturday and Sunday the Classic trials switch to Newbury’s Greenham meeting, when trainer of the week Charlie Appleby – five winners at Newmarket – is back with the pick of 15 entries.

TOMORROW: Easter Parade of AW championships and on Bank Holiday Monday the Irish Grand National.

DETTORI PLAYS HIS AUDIENCE

⚠️ HEADS UP Leading trainers at this three-day Craven meeting in the decade: Charlie Appleby 17 (he was 2021 champion trainer), Team Gosden 17, Team Hannon 14, Roger Varian 10, William Haggas 8, Charlie Hills 8, Kevin Ryan 7, Ian Balding 5, Richard Fahey 5, Ralph Beckett 4, Saeed Bin Suroor 4, Mark Johnston 4, Sir Michael Stoute 4, Jane Chapple-Hyam 3, Stuart Williams 3.

*This week: Charlie Appleby 5, John and Thady Gosden 2, George Boughey 1, Michael Dods 1, William Haggas 1, Richard Hannon 1, Kevin Ryan 1, Roger Varian 1, Chris Wall 1.

⭕ 2.25 Newmarket Audience (Frankie Dettori), from a sprint pedigree, got 7f well, winning readily, over the CD in October, though there was no form boost from those behind in the late season.

Anthem National, also sprint-bred, didn’t quite make it (third) over 7f in the Spring Cup at Lingfield last month, part of the AW championship; the switch to turf might help

The well-exposed Eldrickjones won only his maiden, always a bad sign, but Tom Marquand rides him for the first time.

Tuscan, bred for further, did well in his first season until trying a Listed on soft ground in October.

17.0 AND 18.0 BETDAQ PUNTS

⭕ 3.00 Newmarket French Derby fourth, Jean Prat winner: what is Intellogent doing in a class-2 handicap at Newmarket?

He must have been rated around 117 on Jean Prat day at Deauville in that Group 1 in 2018, when he had an Irish 2,000 Guineas placer, Gustav Klimt, in third.

Now down to 95, after being seen mainly on AW in 2020-1, before leaving France and changing stables twice without a run for the last 12 months.

Moved over here to Hughie Morrison then to Jane Chapple-Hyam, who saddled Claymore, a solid runner-up to Native Trail in the Craven Stakes yesterday.

It’s an ordinary looking race today and the change (and change again!) of scenery might produce a result, if you can get a biggish offer.

The favourite, Carolus Magnus, won a class 4 here on firm ground in September, and he’s in this handicap on 90, first-time hooded.

Hortzador (now seven) was runner-up at Redcar on the soft 10 days back; Via Serendipity (he’s eight now) won on firm at Ascot in September but is still 12lb behind his AW rating.

Siam Fox was in good form at this time last year and Ryan Moore is booked. Winner of three out of four as a two-year-old, Ataser may recoup that form, now gelded after a poor season last year.

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE value 17.0 Siam Fox, 18.0 Intellogent

SONNY LISTON PACKS PUNCH

⭕ 3.35 Newmarket (Feilden Stakes) This Listed-only trial threw up champions Intello (2013 French Derby win and Arc third) and Golden Horn (2015 Epsom Derby, Eclipse, Irish Champion Stakes and Arc winner).

📊 RACE STATS: Richard Hannon (Dawn Of Liberation) and Team Johnston (Austrian Theory) are the only recent winning winning stables. Favourites are 3-8, with no winner bigger than 9-2 at SP.

📊 EARLY BIRDS: Austrian Theory, Cresta, Masekela and Sonny Liston (the one with staying power here) all won first time out as two-year-olds.

📊 FORM: In the top two-year-old tests, Cresta was second in the Horris Hill and Masekela fourth in the Royal Lodge.

Dawn Of Liberation, a half-brother by Churchill to the stable’s Group-1 winner Toormore, has already won a race on turf this year.

BETDAQ value 5.5 Sonny Liston

IRISH PLAN GLANCING BLOW

⭕ 4.25 Cheltenham A summer-ground winner, Alice Avril, is an appropriate tip for the time of year and obviously well fancied, with Henry De Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore spotting that their five-year-old gets more than a stone from the likely odds-on favourite, The Glancing Queen, who has won over hurdles and fences only with cut in the ground. BETDAQ value 4.2

⭕ 4.45 Newmarket Robert Cowell, who won this last year, saddles four in the race today but I shall stick with my news of Jane Chapple-Hyam’s hopes, Aplomb appealing particularly because of the high draw which dominated the sprints yesterday.

BETDAQ value 8.9 Aplomb

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
