CAN HE LAND NAP NUMBER NINE? A talking horse and a hidden horse. That’s what Daqman thinks he’s uncovered today, in a manner of speaking. Can he land nap number nine?

HE’S A WORTHY TALKING HORSE..

1.35 Taunton As I check the wind and rain, I read that Stormzy will be appearing at the Glastonbury Festival this summer.

The connection today is between a racehorse and the festival site, Worthy Farm, Pilton. Otherwise I shall not be keeping a weather eye out for appearances by Stormzy.

Song-wise I’ve moved on from Stormy Weather and Just Walking in The Rain, past Raindrops Are Falling on My Head and I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now (particularly Sue Smith’s Vintage Clouds).

But I stopped buying records when music went out of fashion, and talking came in.

Though Worthy Farm is challenged by The Groovy Hoovy and Farm The Rock (we can’t get away from it, can we!), I think he’ll land me the nap.

He’s shown a lot of promise in stamina tests and, when that happens with a five-year-old, Paul Nicholls moves them on quickly.

We’re looking to Farm The Rock to set the pace but not to complete his hat-trick. The handicapper has not been impressed with his autumn double and in fact he’s 6lb lower than the rating he was given at the start of his failed handicap career two years ago.

Winter Spice also won by front-running a modest event. His penalty and step up in trip may be his underdoing.

Mrs Miggins wears a tongue-tie despite two wind ops. Hopefully, she won’t end up in the pie shop.

.. AND SOLO IS A HIDDEN HORSE

1.45 Warwick This race could produce something good, with the leading yards taking part in a 15-runner race. But where will the winner come from?

Nicky Henderson has a strike rate of 27%. His top weight, Malton Rose, started so well, but the handicap mark created by winning his bumper and his maiden hurdle in 2017 has so far proved unrealistic.

Venetia Williams (1-15) has not struck form yet and, though Subcontinent appears to have been running really well at the end of last season, second in a big field here, then a 10-lengths winner at Perth, those were maiden hurdles after he’d failed in his novice career, including in handicaps.

Ballygown Bay (Philip Hobbs) has been looking one paced over hurdles and, on breeding, he may do better when put to fences.

Stockburn (Alan King) and Oakley Hall (Jonjo O’Neill) are both hurdles maidens but one of Dan Skelton’s pair, Solo Saxophone, might be a ‘hidden horse.’

The softening ground will suit; at least it seemed to, when he scored back to back at the turn of the year before being overfaced in Listed and Grade 3. Take out his Cheltenham attempts and his run back last month after a wind op, and he’s 113

In fact, he didn’t do badly first time at Cheltenham, sixth in the Fred Winter over a trip too short for him.

He was behind today’s likely favourite, Unblinking (Nigel Twiston-Davies), in a big field when he returned to Cheltenham last month and I’m hoping the two of them make me up a Ladbrokes forecast.

DREAM CAN DEFY THE COMMAND

5.00 Kempton This looks like a match between Universal Command (Roger Charlton, striking at 44%) and Livvys Dream (Charles Hill, back to form yesterday with Delicious).

Universal Command was allowed to steal a class 5 at Wolverhampton, which has forced him up the ratings (hit for a 10lb rise) and so back to class 4, in which he’d been beaten over the same CD.

But Livvys Dream has already climbed the ladder, up from success in class 6 (here) to class 5, then to narrow defeat in a class 3 at Newmarket. Yet she’s now getting 7lb from Universal Command.
