VALUE IS TIMELESS ON BETDAQ AHEAD OF CHAMPION TRIAL: Daqman spotted big value on the BETDAQ exchange in 6.0 offer Timeless Beauty (WON 7-2) at Ayr yesterday and the mare won more than six lengths. Today he follows the Champion Hurdle form strictly on the book and finds the 13.0 BETDAQ Sportsbook price too big about a trialist on Saturday. He takes 13.0, intending to save on the horse in Saturday’s race and watch his Cheltenham odds tumble when he wins.

FAKENHAM OFF: 13mm of rain overnight proved unlucky for Fakenham who have cancelled today’s meeting. Chepstow have also announced an inspection on Wednesday morning ahead of their meeting that afternoon. Daqman’s nap today runs at Exeter.

BETDAQ VALUE GOING FOR A SONG

⚠️ HEADS UP Song For Someone looked big last night at 13.0 for Cheltenham in the BETDAQ Sportsbook in advance of his Champion Hurdle test on Saturday.

Only five have been declared for the Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock, with the 2017-18 winner, Buveur d’Air, the likely favourite.

But Buveur d’Air is 10 now and has not been seen on a racetrack since his defeat at odds on (2-13) in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle in November, 2019. That’s a gap of 420 days to Saturday.

He’s still officially on 167, some 9lb superior to Song For Someone and 10lb in front of Ballyandy, who is also now 10.

As a progressive six-year-old, Song For Someone had Ballyandy back in third when – despite giving him 2lb – he beat Silver Streak a nose in the International at Cheltenham two weeks before Silver Streak caused an upset on Boxing Day.

In the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton, the Streak slammed the champion, long-odds-on Epatante, more than six lengths, giving the runner-up 7lb.

Song For Someone, an early-bird Fortune Cookie, is therefore streakily (I mean ‘strictly’) superior to everything, pre-Saturday.

Take the 13.0 before he runs and cover the ante-post stake with a bet to win the trial on Saturday.

WINNER IN THE PIPELINE

⭕ 2.15 Exeter A decent head to head clash in prospect here between the David Pipe trained Astigar and Nicky Henderson’s Patroclus who stand out above their 16 rivals as the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE indicates.

Preference is for Astigar who was fancied for his debut in a Uttoxeter bumper but was just pipped by Solwara One.

The form has been given a significant subsequent boost by Solwara One winning well at Doncaster last time out and given the good current form of the Pipe stable (5 winners from last 19) Astigar should be able to land this en route to better races.

Patroclus has been a beaten odds-on favourite in both of his starts – the first being a point to point and then his first start under rules when a nine and a half length second to Jay Bee Why at Warwick. The winner gave that form a boost when finishing a close up fifth in a Grade 2 at Warwick next time out but Patroclus might well be bumping into a smart one again today.

DON THE ONE

⭕ 3.45 Exeter It’s no surprise to see Evan Williams get Ballybreen out again quickly after his 32 length romp on desperate ground at Fontwell last week. He has a 7lb penalty but is set to go up 8lb so is technically well in.

It’s hard to know what to make of the Fontwell win – 9 of his 11 rivals pulled up and it was more a case of last man standing. I wouldn’t get too carried away with that form and would be especially concerned about whether the race has left its mark just five days later?

Preference goes to the Venetia Williams trained Don Herbager who loves the testing ground and has been beaten less than a length in his latest two starts. The stable are in good form.

MARVE LOOKS MARVELLOUS

⭕ 6.40 Southwell This Ladbrokes-sponsored sprint looks competitive despite there now being a field of six following two non runners.

Marve remains progressive after just three starts and has the vital Southwell experience factor box ticked after his course and distance win 11 days ago.

The form has worked out well and he looks tempting on handicap debut off a mark of 71.

Secret Handsheikh looks the danger after his course and distance second last time out and represents the Archie Watson / Hollie Doyle axis.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 10 points)
BET 6.6pts win (nap) ASTIGAR (2.15 Exeter)
BET 2.7pts win DON HERBAGER (3.45 Exeter)
BET 2.9pts win MARVE (6.40 Southwell)

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
