DAQMAN WINNERS ALL COUNT WHEN STAKED RIGHT: For the third day in a row, Daqman’s staking to a fixed-profit yield won again! He had only an even-money winner yesterday but it was another successful cover story at BETDAQ offers, producing a profit on the day which took him 55 points up since Saturday. His four winners in that time:

WON 7-1 RAVEN’S LADY
WON 7-2 HUNAINA
WON 100-30 LARGY GLORY
WON 1-1 RAMORE WILL (at Kempton yesterday)

THE KEY HORSE-BY-HORSE GRAND NATIONAL FORM: Today Daqman looks at every one of the 40 horses left in Saturday’s Grand National, checking them out against age, distance won, course ability, jumping ability and the Aintree record of the stable. Two horses tick all the boxes but one of them is from among the highest ranks in the handicap, so the other is given top spot for weight advantage.

LIONS ARE THE NATIONAL TOP TWO

Only 40 are allowed to run at Aintree and the quality horses are concentrated in the first 12 runners at the top of the weights (1-12 after the horse’s name) but the majority of winners carry less than 11st (13-40).

KEY:
A = Aged 8 to 11
W = won at 3m or further
C = course specialist
T = trainer with good National record
F = never fallen.

Declaration stage: 10 a.m. Thursday

ACTWF Vieux Lion Rouge

Sixth and seventh in consecutive Grand Nationals and seventh in a Becher, beating Blaklion in last year’s Haydock Trial. Nearly 12 lengths off Regal Encore at Ascot in February.

ACTWF Blaklion (1-12)

Has never been out of the first five in 25 Rules races. Up 9lb on last year’s Haydock Trial second and Grand National fourth. Won the Becher Chase nine lengths from the The Last Samuri but 8lb worse off.

ACTW The Last Samuri (1-12)

Second in the 2016 Grand National (10lb higher now) and third in the Becher. Only 16th on better ground in the 2017 National but second in the Becher back on heavy (the winner Blaklion is 8lb worse off). Third to Tiger Roll in the Cheltenham cross-country but 9lb worse.

ATWF I Just Know

Found an extra gear late on to land the North Yorkshire Grand National. Trainer in form has won this race before with one quietly prepared.

ATWF Tiger Roll

Won the 4m NH Chase at Cheltenham last year and the cross country this, so following closely in the hoofprints of stablemate Cause Of Causes, who then finished runner-up in last year’s Grand National. Same yard took the National with Silver Birch.

ATWF Warriors Tale

Bred by Alan King Racing, has improved steadily. Second in the Great Yorkshire and to Gold Present at Newbury.

ATWF Tenor Nivernais (1-12)

In and out performer, his favourite track is Ascot. Struggled in last year’s National.

ACWF Beeves

He’s 10lb higher than when eighth last year after a hat-trick in minor events. Led on and off until headed five out in Cheltenham Cross-country.

ACWF Captain Redbeard

Sixth behind Gas Line Boy in the shorter Grand Sefton over the National fences in December. Only 6lb better for 13-lengths thrashing by The Dutchman in Peter Marsh.

ACWF Pendra

Glass horse, beat Double Ross in the Autumm Gold Cup at Ascot (2015). Heavily eased three out in 2016 National; close second 2017 Kim Muir at Cheltenham.

ACWF Regal Encore

Ridden with exaggerated waiting tactics last year and not reach leaders. Again stayed on without pace to challenge, nine-lengths third in the Ladbrokes Trophy (old Hennessy) and now 9lb better off with the winner, Total Recall.

AWT Vicente

Fell at first last year and poor recent form on heavy. But back-to-back Scottish Nationals on goodish ground.

CW Raz De Maree

Eighth in National of 2014 but unseated rider first Bechers last year. Winner of Cork National, winner and runner-up Welsh National and second in Midland Grand National. But aged 13 now and place hopes at best.

AWF Virgilio

Loves Aintree as winner over hurdles and over fences on the Mildmay course, but this is first time over the big National obstacles.

ACW Buywise

Finished 12th in 2016 National and back to form in veterans’ chase at Sandown in January. Might have won the Ultima at Cheltenham (2017 but hampered bend.

AWT Children’s List

Glass horse. Four runs over fences (won beginners’ chase at Punchestown in December 16) hardly seem enough

CW Lord Windermere

Surprise Cheltenham Gold Cup winner of 2014. Not done much since, and 12 years old now, but has dropped 20lb and progress final circuit to finish seventh in last year’s National.

ACWT Houblon Des Obeaux

Late progress, 10th in last year’s National, after third in Welsh National and fourth in both Warwick Classic and Midlands National. One pace.

AW Final Nudge

Must have soft-heavy, so Coral Welsh National suited when third to Raz De Maree (giving that one 10lb). Suspicion that small fields suit him best.

AWF Chase The Spud

The 2017 Midlands National winner at this time but pulled up last twice in Welsh National and Eider Chase in the.mud, though had won on heavy at Haydock in November, improving on second in same race the year before.

AWF Milansbar

Placed Midlands National (twice), and Coral Welsh National and won Warwick Classic????

AWF Perfect Candidate (1-12)

Runner-up, then winner (beat Vicente) in Grade-3 stamina test at Cheltenham in November, but modest form otherwise and rating looks high for what he’s done.

AWF Pleasant Company

A pound higher when ninth, close up the first six, in last year’s National, after winning the Bobbyjo. Not seen since tailed off in the Thyestes in January and has to bounce back.

AWT Alpha Des Obeaux (1-12)

RSA fourth in 2017, now 17lb better off for seven lengths with Total Recall on their one-two in the Ladbrokes Munster National in October, but sole success since when dropped back to 2m 4f.

ACT Ucello Conti

Grand National sixth and Becher Chase fourth in 2016; then Thyestes second, Munster National fourth and PP Chase runner-up over Christmas (no chance with Anibale Fly on that form).

AW Anibale Fly (1-12)

Improved 20lb in a year, winning the big Christmas Chase at Leopardstown and then third, finishing well, in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

AW Minella Rocco (1-12)

Won 2016 NH Chase (4m), beating the 2018 Gold Cup winner, and second 2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup but modest this season and trainer out of form.

AW Total Recall (1-12)

Won the Munster National and Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury (old Hennessy) back to back but fell under pressure at the third last in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

AW Seeyouatmidnight

Prolific winner including defeat of Blaklion as a novice. But behind that one in 2016 RSA before third in the Scottish Grand National. Saved up for this.

AW The Dutchman

Trainer Tizzard is bullish about this Peter Marsh winner who got bogged down in the mud last time out. He’s only eight and had the same number of chases.

AW Gold Present (1-12)

Good headway in last year’s Topham when fell Canal Turn but normally a good jumper. Back-to-back wins in December pushed him up 13lb

AW Valseur Lido (1-12)

Punchestown novice champion (2015) and second in the Ryanair at Cheltenham (2016). Hasn’t. been able to hack it in Grade 1 since but still only nine and now off lowest mark for three years.

AW Shantou Flyer (1-12)

Pulled up in last year’s National, and poor strike rate since winning in 2015 (at 1-23) but three recent seconds, two of them in Graded races, so a pound higher

CWT Double Ross

Fifth in the National 2014 and 2015. Third in 2016 Hennessy to Native River (Gold Cup winner 2018) and fourth in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham last month. He’s 12 now.

CW Gas Line Boy

Fifth last year, hampered and short of room two out. He’s 12 now and 4lb higher after winning the Grand Sefton in December.

CW Saint Are

Badly out of form recently on the heavy ground but previous second (2015) and third in the National last year on goodish. He’s 12 now, so could place but unlikely to have the speed to win.

WF Carlingford Lough (1-12)

The 2016 Irish Gold Cup and Punchestown Gold Cup winner has dropped a stone or so since then, failing to reach the frame, mainly at Grade-1 level at fancy prices.

WT Bless The Wings

A lot of parking tickets lately (PP1FP). Won December cross-country at Cheltenham but fell 12th in the festival version.

W Baie Des Iles

Grey mare who has been winner, second and third in consecutive Punchestown National trials; fifth Welsh National and sixth in the Irish National in 2016. Still only seven

WF Maggio

Got round in the Topham Trophy (2015) and won Listed chase at Aintree (Mildmay course) in 2016 but modest since and needs to bounce back.

AW Road To Riches (RESERVE)

Irish Gold Cup runner-up and Ryanair third at Cheltenham in 2016, but disappointing since and has slumped 23lb down the handicap.

NOW IT’S VIVA VENETIA

4.15 Hereford Pembroke House is the nonpareil bridesmaid: 19 consecutive races in the first five without managing to get first past the post, since he last saw the winner’s enclosure.

After Cloudy Bob won at Taunton, he refused next time at Exeter, and I don’t blame him after 63 Rules races.

Venetia Williams is in better form now but Huff And Puff is likely to huff and puff and need the run, and be going for better ground when Spring finally arrives.

He could set things up for stablemate Vivaccio (4.2 offers), who was in a race of winners last time out and has slipped even further down the handicap.

6.15 Wolverhampton Charles Hills has run just three horses in April: at Wolverhampton, Chelmsford and Kempton. All three have won.

One was a three-year-old making its seasonal debut at Wolverhampton and, such was its superiority, that he made all and won 13 lengths.

Now the yard is back at Wolver with Lifeboat in a situation which suggests they want to persevere with him, though he didn’t score as a two-year-old. In a nutshell, he’s been gelded. You could get 7.8 Lifeboat in the BETDAQ orange this morning.
