DAQMAN CATCHES HOT BOY KIMBER ON 4-1 KEMPTON WINNER: Daqman started the week with a profit yesterday, latching on to Catch The Cuban (WON 4-1) at Kempton to finish 11.35 up on the day. Given a terrific ride for Colin Tizzard by Daqman’s jockey tip for the top, 8lb claimer Harry Kimber. Today punters needs a weather eye on the going: it’s reported as heavy at Lingfield, good to soft at Hereford and good at Huntingdon!

PIPE’S BIG-RACE POKER HAND

Jumping’s at home this weekend! Weather permitting, there are three days at Cheltenham (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). The going has been reported good to soft, which would suggest the course has missed the worst of the heavy rain.

Here are the leading trainers at this Cheltenham meeting in the last 10 seasons, headed by Paul Nicholls with 27 and David Pipe with 21, revealing ‘hidden horses’ of potential, one each for races on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which join the list of Fortune Cookies potential.

27 PAUL NICHOLLS Brelan d’As Unseated rider at Cheltenham three weeks ago but normally jumps well there and can be considered ‘thrown in’ Saturday’s Gold Cup with 10st 5lb. Highly regarded at Ditcheat.

21 DAVID PIPE Poker Play This is Pipe’s own festival, and his race used to be the Steel Plate and Sections Novices Chase on Friday, which he famously won back to back with Grands Crus and Dynaste (2011-12). Poker Play could roll back the years.

13 PHILIP HOBBS Zanza Philip Hobbs team, currently registering a 24% strike rate, has made a huge effort with Zanza, and he’s come good at the right time, scoring at Newbury 10 days ago without damaging his handicap mark. Sunday’s Greatwood Hurdle will reveal whether he can now hold his form and land a big one.

Full Fortune Cookies list of engagements tomorrow. Meanwhile here are the rest of the leading trainers for Cheltenham this weekend from the results at this meeting in the last decade:

After Nicholls, Pipe and Hobbs, you have Nicky Henderson and Colin Tizzard on 12; then 8 Nigel Twiston-Davies; 7 Jonjo O’Neill; 6 Fergal O’Brien; 5 Alan King; 4 Enda Bolger, Harry Fry, Neil Mulholland, Ian Williams; 3 Martin Keighley and Willie Mullins. Here are the ace races:

FRIDAY: Two-Mile Handicap Chase, Steel Plate And Sections Novices Chase, Glenfarclas Cross Country
SATURDAY: Triumph Hurdle Trial, Gold Cup, Big Bucks Handicap Hurdle
SUNDAY: Arkle Trial, Cheltenham Chase, Greatwood Handicap Hurdle.

MOONLIGHT SPECIAL BOOKING

1.30 Hereford Last year’s winning trainer, Neil Mulholland, saddles Moonlight Camp in his first handicap, significantly booking Tom Scudamore who has a 100% record for the Bath yard.

I saw 16-1 with bookmakers but 42.0 offers in the BETDAQ orange, early mouse, with a tasty 5.8 a place.

2.00 Hereford Venetia Williams was pleasantly surprised when Jurys Out won a 19-furlong hurdle in the Spring, as it was always expected that jumping fences would be his game.

Jurys Out makes his chasing debut on the stable’s local track today, with the winners just beginning to come in, and with jockey Charlie Deutsch 10-38 at Hereford.

It was 4.00 Jurys Out when I moused for a bet, with Stop The World about the same, with 8.8 bar the two. Stop The World is a maiden, with bridesmaid form figures of 24303022324.

3.00 Hereford Ballyhill is a once-a-year winner but has raced just the once at Hereford and won. That was in the same month as an unplaced reappearance run.

Ballyhill’s return last month was within three days of that previous auspicious start. His Nigel Twiston-Davies stable is in top form (24% strike rate) and son Sam goes to Hereford for this solo runner.

Steady at 5.8 this morning behind No Comment, who has failed to score since his novice days nearly three years ago, with nearly-horse returns of 223000 in classy races at Aintree, Cheltenham and Punchestown.

Fifth in the Kim Muir, he ought to be closely involved in this race of much lower class, and 4.8 BETDAQ offers allow us to back two in the race.

3.20 Lingfield On three occasions at this time of year, Miss Yeats has started her season at Lingfield after 201, 211 and 250 days’ break. The results have been: 3rd 50-1, 3rd 7-2 and won 15-8.

Here she is 187 days after her last start, well backed when books opened last night, and seemingly with only the penalised Tanrudy to beat.

It was only yesterday that her jockey, Jamie Moore, landed a 25-1 winner for an out-of-form yard. You won’t get that but you could get an early BETDAQ position at 6.2.
