SUPERNAP TODAY AS BETDAQ SPONSORS AT PUNCHESTOWN: When BETDAQ are sponsors, Daqman has a flutter – at BETDAQ offers of course – but he gets serious about one horse, his supernap at Punchestown. There are stronger bets at Wolverhampton, where a supposed second string at 9.2 might surprise the odds-on favourite.

DAQMAN’S PLANNING ANOTHER WEEKEND PROFITS PLUNGE: Heads Up tomorrow as Daqman checks out the big weekend races, after grabbing 124 points profit on Saturday and Sunday. Watch this space!

YOU CAN AFFORD TO TAKE 6.0

12.40 Punchestown (Download the BETDAQ App 3-y-o Maiden Hurdle) If you can combine two stats, you’re likely on the winner:

  • Favourites have just landed a hat-trick in this race
  • For four years running, the winner had already raced over hurdles

I shall follow the money later on and back the favourite – I imagine it will be either Instant Return or Aspire Tower – but I shall take an early position on 6.0 offer Yafordadoe, going for his own personal hat-trick here after back-to-back Flat wins over 7f on the soft last month.

He’s a reformed character and his pedigree says he’ll stay, having developed a laid-back style of running. I think he’ll handle hurdles well and come through to take the field late on.

1.10 Punchestown (BETDAQ Trading Tools Maiden Hurdle) Jumped well as a winning Pointer. Won his bumper here at Punchestown, eased down. So the day’s banker might be Diauro, who has won before after a long lay-off.

2.40 Punchestown (BETDAQ Sportsbook Rated Novice Chase) Punters hoping for an early retirement from Scoir Mear had to endure 17 defeats between his hurdles success and his first chase victory in March.

You’d expect a younger horse to make him struggle today. Maybe man-of-the-moment Robbie Power on Whisperinthebreeze, who’s had an unusual prep, running in a recent charity race here at Punchestown.

Kept good company in the Spring over long distances at the Cheltenham and Fairyhouse festivals; now back nearer his winning trip. On this ground, you wouldn’t want any shorter than the 5.6 I took.

CROWING OVER 9.2 FOR ROOST

3.10 Punchestown (BETDAQ 2% Commission Exchange Handicap Chase) Flynsini won this two years ago off a light weight but will be 12 years old in five weeks’ time.

Robin De Roost has pinched the bottom spot in the handicap, despite running an excellent second here last month, when dropped a stone.

In his only other Punchestown chase, he beat 15 others wearing the cheekpieces he has on today. A 9.2 BETDAQ offer as I write.

Connections are hoping that, as he gets older, he will relish the softer ground but, if you fancy him, you need to halve your stake because of the worry about the surface.

3.40 Punchestown Gordon Elliott, who has a 60% strike rate in bumpers on this course, won this one last year with Battleoverdoyen off 12st, but now goes to the other end of the scale with 5.1 offer Daphne Moon.

She is getting 12lb from the favourite, Aione, and Jamie Codd has been booked. Aione’s stablemate, Miss Punch, is bred to need further but should be watched for the future.

A NOVICE WHISPER FOR POWER

12.50 Sedgefield Consistent without winning, Emma Lamb could be transformed by her change of stable to the in-form yard of Dr Richard Newland. Sam Twiston-Davies is prepared to make the journey to Sedgefield for the one ride.

3.50 Wolverhampton (Ladbrokes nursery) After a Southwell double, Dark Regard goes for a hat-trick at this trip but can he make the transition to Tapeta?

Ralph Beckett’s last four runners have finished 2213, and handicap-debutant Apollinaire is 122 and one of the least exposed.

Reassure should confirm Newcastle form with Dazzling Des and Get Boosting, with William Haggas and James Doyle 67% as a combo.

4.20 Wolverhampton (Ladbrokes novice) Waliyak, twice runner-up at Newmarket, may have most to fear from stablemate Aqrab, a Dawn Approach filly related to more Classic winners on the dam’s side, and Jim Crowley’s only ride of the day.

Trainer Roger Varian is 2-3 in this type of race on this course, and I took 10.5

Aqrab this morning, assuming some even money later on for a saver on Waliyak, morning odds on..
