GET GEARED UP FOR TOMORROW’S JULY MEETING: The July Meeting is almost here, with big races every day from tomorrow until Saturday, three days of tipping opportunity which Daqman hopes will bring him a 70-point profit haul. Today he offers some of his stats and facts.

IT’S COMING HOME: DAQMAN pins his hopes on three selections at Catterick, Yarmouth and an evening nap at Kempton.

JULY MEETING STATS AND FACTS

TOMORROW: 1.50 Newmarket John Gosden top trainer in this race with 4 in the decade, William Buick top jockey with 3.

3.00 Newmarket Andrew Balding shows clever placing to win this at 7-1 and 12-1 since 2010, and stable back to form. He also won the 4.45 last year, so it seems that he gets them ready for this meeting.

3.35 Newmarket Sir Michael Stoute farms this race. Three wins since 2009

FRIDAY: 1.50 Newmarket As with several other events where there is a consolation race, this Silver Bunbury Cup is won by high weights who have just failed to get into the main race.

The three winners of this have been young horses no older than 4 and have carried 9st 4lb to 9st 9lb. Two winning favourites out of three.

2.25 Newmarket Aidan O’Brien goes for a hat-trick in this two-year-old fillies’ Group 2.

Coincidence or what that six of the last seven winners have come from stalls 6, 7 and 8?

3.00 Newmarket Mark Johnston won four in a row (2013-2016). Winning SPs from. 6-1 to 40-1; not a favourite in sight!

SATURDAY 1.40 Newmarket Another race with just the one outright favourite winning. SPs were between 11-1 and 16-1 seven times out of nine, so just outside the expected.

2.15 Newmarket The July Cup is for young speed horses; only one winner in nine years has been older than 4.

FIRELIGHT’S COMING HOME…

It’s an extreme test today for the ‘media men’ and women in the marketing departments at the UK racecourses – particularly at Bath and Kempton where their cards clash with a certain football game in Moscow !!!

I’ve looked down today’s ABC to see if there are any topical tips. I couldn’t find a horse called It’s Coming Home, so in its absence We Are The World (7.10 Bath), Hope Is High (3.20 Yarmouth) and Good Luck Charm (5.55 Kempton) might all attract a few more pennies than they may have done otherwise.

2.40 Catterick Generally small fields at Catterick today, including in this maiden in which the Michael Bell trained Artarmon should finally come good.

He’s 0/6 so far and has been quite expensive to follow with defeats at 7/2 (twice) and 9/4 but this is surely his easiest task to date and he has run some of his better races on quicker ground – including when fourth in a Sandown handicap.

Hopefully, the first time visor will also be a positive and he is taken to beat Horatio Star who should improve for the step up in trip following his debut fifth at Sandown where another of today’s rivals Mutanaqel finished in seventh spot.

5.25 Yarmouth The card is littered with short price favourites leaving the finale as the most competitive heat.

I thought the Christine Dunnett trained Shyjack looked interesting – it’s a race the trainer is keen to win as she has three of the eight runners!

Shyjack was only beaten a short head over course and distance last time out and off the same mark will take some beating.

Top weight La Isla Bonita was hiked up 8lb for a course and distance success and judged by his Lingfield effort last time out that looks quite a harsh increase.

7.25 Kempton We’ll be halfway through the first half in Moscow when this is run but a change of channels for a couple of minutes might prove profitable.

I was very taken by the debut effort of Firelight at Sandown where she finished fourth. She was pretty clueless on debut, slowly away from the stalls but got better as the race went on and the penny started to drop.

The form of that race has been given a considerable boost with the subsequent successes of both the winner Oberyn Martell (easy follow-up win at Salisbury) and runner-up Thriving (won well at Beverley).
