EURO 2020 QUALIFIERS: We preview Saturday’s games between GIBRALTAR V REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, ITALY v FINLAND and SPAIN v NORWAY all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

GIBRALTAR V REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

5pm Mick McCarthy returns as Ireland Manager on Saturday evening and he couldn’t have asked for an easier competitive fixture to start. There’s no getting away from the fact that Ireland are a poor side these days, they just don’t have the quality in their squad that they used to have. McCarthy will get the squad enjoying their football again and as we seen with England; that goes a long way in International football these day.

Ireland are obviously heavy odds on favourites with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Gibraltar 65.0, Republic Of Ireland 1.06 and the draw is 22.0. Ireland doesn’t exactly score goals for fun, so it would take a very brave soul to lump on the 1.06. Gibraltar are obviously very poor, however they showed signs of improvement in the Nations League and we feel that they can keep the scoreline respectable here. Any Other Away Win is 2.0 (Ireland to score four or more and win) and we feel that is a good value lay based on Ireland’s attacking talent, or lack of it.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Any Other Away Win at 2.0.

ITALY V FINLAND

7.45pm Italy are a team in transition and it will be very interesting to see how they get on in this qualifying campaign. After missing out on the World Cup, they didn’t exactly impress in the Nations League and a bad start here could see a change in Manager. They only scored two goals in four games against Portugal and Poland in the Nations League and while Portugal are good at the back, Italy should be scoring more.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Italy 1.32, Finland 15.5 and the draw is 5.5. Finland are very well set up at the back and with Italy struggling to score goals lately this could be a very dull affair. The home side should get the job done in the end but the odds on Italy simply look too short. Finland kept four clean sheets in six games against Hungary, Greece and Estonia – who admittedly are at a much lower level than Italy but with Italy’s problems in front of goal, we’re happy to lay the 1.32 from a value point of view. We expect a much closer affair than those odds suggest.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Italy at 1.32.

SPAIN V NORWAY

7.45pm Spain had a very indifferent Nations League campaign, they managed to beat Croatia 6-0 but also lost 3-2 away from home to then and lost by the same scoreline at home against England. As we seen in the World Cup; they just aren’t as good as they were a few years ago when they ruled International football. They should start their Euro 2020 campaign with a win though and the markets agree.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Spain 1.19, Norway 21.0 and the draw is 8.2. Norway won their Nations League Group so they will be no pushovers, however it’s hard to see them stopping Spain from winning away from home here. Spanish fans will want a reaction to the defeats against Croatia and England and we can see Spain starting Euro 2020 with a bang. Any Other Home Win (Spain to score four or more and win) is 3.7 in the Correct Score market and that looks a shade of value.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Any Other Home Win at 3.7.
