Since exiting the Champions League, Atletico Madrid have been favourites for this competition and they go into the match as odds on favourites. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Marseille 5.7, Atletico Madrid 1.79 and the draw is 3.7. While in the ‘To Lift The Trophy’ market; Marseille are 3.55 and Atletico Madrid are 1.39.
Spanish sides have had an excellent record in this competition in recent seasons, with Sevilla in particular. Atletico have been very impressive in this competition since the last 32 – you have to say that they are a side that are a class above the Europa League and that has been noticeable in their recent games. They are used to being involved in the business end of the Champions League, and they will be very hopeful of collecting the trophy this evening.
Marseille have been in the top four in France this season; however they have consistently come up short against the other top sides in France when facing them. Being top four in France isn’t a huge achievement and they were a huge 18 points away from PSG – Atletico will present a massive step up in class compared to who Marseille have faced in this competition thus far. They didn’t have a good away record to get here too, and although this is obviously at a neutral venue – it is obvious they rely massively on their home form.
We feel that Atletico are too big here at 1.79. They have really impressed in this competition thus far and we feel that Marseille won’t have the class to compete with them here. Atletico should be ten ticks shorter for us and we’re happy to take the 1.79.
