F.A. CUP WEDNESDAY: We look ahead to Wednesday’s F.A. CUP replay between Southampton v Derby County with extended stats and recommended BETDAQ bets.

SOUTHAMPTON V DERBY COUNTY

7.45pm Derby County travel to St. Mary’s tonight to replay their third-round tie with Southampton. The Saints remain one point above the Premier League’s relegation zone, and manager Ralph Hassenhuttl claims that this is a very important game to win for his players as well as the fans. Southampton will be without three suspended players – Yan Valery, Charlie Austin and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. On top of that, Ryan Bertrand, Michael Obafemi, Mario Lemina and Danny Ings are also unavailable for the Saints due to injury. Following the Championship side’s defeat against Leeds on Friday, Frank Lampard will be making some changes to his team, with the expected return of 21-year-old loanee Harry Wilson. Southampton are missing a lot of players and it’s hard to think that a home home advantage will counter balance that against a fearless Derby squad.

MATCH STATS

  • Southampton have won none of their five FA Cup games against Derby County (D2 L3), conceding exactly two goals in four of those games.
  • Derby are winless in their last six games against Southampton in all competitions (D3 L3), since a 2-1 victory in the first leg of the 2006-07 Championship Play-Off semi-finals.
  • Southampton have progressed through to the next round in each of their last 10 FA Cup fixtures against lower league opposition, last failing to do so against Bristol Rovers in round five in 2007-08.
  • Derby County have lost eight of their last nine away FA Cup games against sides from the Premier League (W1), with a 2-1 third round victory against West Brom in 2016-17 the only exception.
