FA CUP FINAL: We preview Saturday’s FA Cup Final between ARSENAL v CHELSEA with a recommended BETDAQ bet at Wembley.

ARSENAL V CHELSEA

5.30pm We bring the curtain down on the English domestic season with the FA Cup final on Saturday evening at Wembley, with one team trying to complete a double and the other trying to salvage something from their season. Looking at the last 20 FA Cup finals, the team who finished higher in the Premier League lifted the trophy 17 times – so things don’t look good for Arsenal then! However, they’ve finished the season strongly after going through a mid-season crisis, and had seven wins from their last eight games.

Chelsea are odds on favourites given the season they’ve had, and the match odds market at the time of writing currently stands at; Arsenal 5.0, Chelsea 1.81 and the draw 3.95. Chelsea are rightfully favourites – however it would be very foolish to dismiss Arsenal, and the price on Chelsea looks a little short in a big final. Arsenal battled back from going 1-0 down here in the semi-final against Manchester City to win in extra time, although granted Pep Guardiola had a disappointing first season in charge. However, we just feel that this one will be closer than the odds of 1.81 on Chelsea suggest, and they appeal has a small value lay.

In the goals market, maybe it’s wise not to draw much from Chelsea’s recent games where they had the title won – they’ve conceded four goals over two matches at home to Watford and Sunderland, which in fairness is very unlike them this season. However that still means that they’ve seen over 2.5 goals in five of their last six games, while Arsenal have seen the overs in only two of their last six.

It’s fair to say that we can expect a cagey start as is always the case in big finals between big sides, so under 2.5 goals might appeal as a trade at around the 2.14 mark to many traders. However, the goals we’ve seen in Chelsea’s recent games puts us off this, as we feel that Arsenal can score at some stage too given their form.

With little value in the goals market, we like the Chelsea lay at 1.81 from a value point of view as our best bet. As we said, Arsenal have finished the season strongly and put in a good shift here against Manchester City in the semi-final, so we see the game being closer than the 1.81 on Chelsea implies.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Chelsea at 1.81.
