F.A. CUP FRIDAY: We look ahead to Friday’s F.A. CUP game between TRANMERE v SPURS with extended stats and Betdaq’s own recommended bet.

TRANMERE V TOTTENHAM

7:45 pm Tranmere have nightmares of playing against Spurs in past cup competitions, losing to the North London team 4-0 in their last three successive matches. However, Spurs will be resting some key players such as Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama and possibly Harry Kane. Mauricio Pochettino is confident that his team will put their best foot forward going into this third round challenge against the League Two team. Considering this will be Tranmere’s fifth game in the past two weeks and Spurs resting their playmakers, a low-scoring game could be on the cards. For that reason, backing Under 2.5 goals at 2.8 is our recommendation.

MATCH STATS

  • This is the first meeting between Tranmere and Tottenham in any competition since the 2001-02 season – Tottenham won 4-0 at Prenton Park in the League Cup third round, and 4-0 at White Hart Lane in the FA Cup fifth round.
  • Tottenham are unbeaten against Tranmere in eight previous meetings in all competitions (W6 D2), knocking them out of the FA Cup in 1952-53 (9-1 in a replay) and 2001-02 (4-0).
  • Tranmere are looking to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time since 2003-04, when they beat Premier League side Bolton in the third round.
  • Tottenham have progressed from 17 of their last 18 FA Cup ties against opponents from a lower league. The only exception in that run was a 1-2 loss at Leeds in 2012-13.
