French Horse Racing To Resume on 11 May Horse Racing fans finally got some good news on Wednesday night as news broke that France Galop is preparing to return on the 11th of May.

France Galop had put forward a plan to the French government to return as early as May 4th but the 11th has been given the green light. Of course, this plan is dependent on the current lockdown restrictions being lifted.

As of now, no date has been set as to when these measures will be lifted in France, but France Galop say that they are doing everything to get ready for racing to return behind closed doors on 11 May.

A new programme will be released as some courses do not have the correct facilities for social distancing, while horses and jockeys outside of France will not be allowed to take part at least until the end of May.

France Galop say that they plan to race behind closed doors for “as long as necessary” so who knows if we will see a crowd in Longchamp for the Arc in October. Irish and English racing fans will have to continue to wait on news as to when racing will return but the hope is that they won’t be far behind France.
