GAVIN CROMWELL BLOG: BETDAQ Brand Ambassador Gavin Cromwell reflects on a great week for the stable with EIGHT winners and two intended runners this weekend.

The yard have enjoyed another fantastic week with eight more winners. We are in a real purple patch at the moment and almost every horse we send out seems to run well. The last few weeks have been absolutely incredible for all of us and long may it continue. It’s what dreams are made of.

It’s a quieter weekend with only a couple of runners, but that gives us a good opportunity to have a look back on those winners from the past seven days.

Eight different reasons to be cheerful

Global Racing kicked off the run of winners with a convincing victory at Limerick on Saturday. He’s been very consistent this season and had been working well at home, so we were hoping for a good performance. The loose horse probably helped him a little bit as he can idle out in front, but he stuck it out well and we were happy with the performance.

He’s likely to run at Ballinrobe on Tuesday or back at Limerick on Thursday.

Top Of The Charts did very well to defy a 9lb rise for his Wexford win when comfortably taking the novices’ handicap chase at Perth on Sunday. The step up to three miles has really brought out the best in him and he’s shown his ability over hurdles too, so we have plenty of options moving forward.

The return to fences clearly brought out the best in Callthebarman. He’s not the biggest horse, but jumps his fences really well and he did it nicely.

It wasn’t a big field, but there was some really good prize money on offer and we were delighted with how it turned out. He’s three from three in England now and is horse we think there is more to come from.

Peaches And Cream was an emphatic winner at Downpatrick on Monday. He was put up 17 pounds for that win which made Thursday at Killarney too big an ask.

We only bought Static Jack for £6,500 at Doncaster in May and he’s already repaid that fee and some more! He was very good at Killarney on Tuesday on only his second start for the yard. It was great for his owner Paul Drinkwater to win the feature race on the day. It’s his first horse with us and I’m sure we’ll have plenty more good days with him. He’s one to look forward to.

Lever Du Soleil is fast becoming a bit of legend for the yard. He brought up his fourth win in 15 days at Hamilton on Thursday. He really gutsed it out and pulled it out of the fire, as at one point it looked as if he might be beaten.

We’ll now head to Galway with him where he’ll be entered in both the big Flat handicap on the Monday as well as the 140 rated hurdle on Friday.

Lucky Road capped off a memorable week with a good win at Killarney on Thursday. He won at Sligo on Sunday and was due to go up 15lbs for that win, so was 10bs well in here and he got the job done nicely.

He battled well and it looked like he might be beaten coming to the last, but he stuck on well and actually won with what looked a bit in hand at the finish. We’ll probably give him a couple of weeks off now and see where we are with the handicapper before making any further plans.

Entries

Toosey is scheduled to run at Kilbeggan on Friday evening (7.10pm), but there is plenty of rain forecast and he won’t run if the going gets tough. If that does happen, he’ll head to Tipperary on Sunday (2.45pm).

Our only other runner over the weekend is Blottos in the same race. He didn’t get very far on his first start for us over fences, but he did run well over hurdles on his yard debut the time before.

This run will be a bit of a fact finding mission to see where we are with his handicap mark, but he did have some decent form in England when with Sue Smith and hopefully he can run well here.

Galway Hurdle

We are planning to run both Ming Dynasty and Ejayteekay in the Galway Hurdle. I was a touch surprised there were only 32 entries for the race and both of ours go there with each-way chances.
