GAVIN CROMWELL BLOG: Our brand ambassador GAVIN CROMWELL looks ahead to his runners on Sunday including Vanillier in the Florida Pearl at Punchestown.

Sunday Cork

Our weekend gets underway at Cork with one of my BETDAQ five to follow horses, Dutch Schultz. I’m really looking forward to getting him over hurdles in this 2m maiden (11.50am), as he was a good winner of a Flat handicap on his last start. He jumps pretty well at home, so I hope that with a clear round he’ll have a good chance.

Clairemc also goes for us in the same race and I’m looking forward to getting her out. She’ll learn plenty from the experience, and is definitely one to look forward to going forward. Hopefully she can show a bit of what we’ve seen at home on the racecourse.

Sunday Punchestown

Vanillier runs at Punchestown and steps up in trip for the Grade 2 Florida Pearl Novices Chase over 2m6½f (12:30pm). He’s improved from Down Royal we which we’d hoped he would as that distance was far below what he needs and this trip will definitely suit more. We’re very hopeful of a big run as we know what he’s capable of.

Alfa Mix has disappointed a bit over fences but comes here for the handicap chase over 2m6½f (1:00pm). He’s been running well but he’ll definitely have to improve to win this which we hope we can.

Western Run also contends the same race. I’s his first run in a handicap and I think the handicapper has been a tad harsh on him. Having said that, he will appreciate the nice ground and hopefully he gives a good showing of himself
