GAVIN CROMWELL: After notching up a couple of winners during the week, Brand Ambassador Gavin Cromwell previews his weekend runners, hoping to continue his good form.

It was nice to land a good double at Wexford with Walk Me Home and Peaches And Cream in the week, particularly given we hadn’t had much luck at Galway.

Walk Me Home clearly enjoyed the step up in trip and is now jumping much better than she was last season, while Peaches And Cream looks to have a pretty bright future over fences after his win too.

He was handy over hurdles, rated 125, and he could well be contesting some of the bigger novice handicap chases as the season goes on.

Friday – Tipperary

On Friday we’re looking forward to Giselles Thunder in the 5f maiden (4:10pm), as she looks to build on her debut when second.

That effort came over half a furlong further but the slight step back in trip shouldn’t be an issue as she’s definitely a quick one.

Taking into account the form of that first race, where the fourth has come out and won a Listed contest, and the fact she won’t mind the softer ground, I’d like to think she has a good chance.

Annie Ok is our other runner of the day, lining up for the first time in three years in the 7½f maiden (5:10pm).

We’ll find out a bit more tomorrow about where we stand with her, as she wasn’t at the yard for her run as a two-year-old back in 2017, but she’ll certainly need to blow the cobwebs away.

Saturday at Kilbeggan

Presenting Meghan and You Say Nothing are in the maiden hurdle (4:40pm), while Walking The Walk is first reserve.

Presenting Meghan is a nice mare who won a hurdle at Galway for her previous trainer last year. She had a little bit of a mishap when going out very keen the last day, jinking at the first and unseating Conor McNamara.

She had no race there so we’re hoping she can settle, run well and give herself a chance this time. You Say Nothing was well beaten on his last start and may not be quite up to winning a maiden just yet.

Bajan Excell then goes in the beginners’ chase (6:45pm). He won a couple of hurdles and a Flat race last season, all on very testing ground, and we’re hoping he shows up better than when finishing down the field at Galway last time out.

He’s up in trip and gets the 4lb weight for age allowance so conditions are in his favour, though it looks a fairly hot race, with the likes of Charles Byrnes’ Doctor Duffy in there, and I’d be happy if we were in the first three.

Quantatmental is one we’ve been looking forward to getting out and he lines up in the 2m4f handicap chase (7:15pm).

There haven’t been too many options for him, but this looks a nice starting point and he’s been in good form at home.

He’s got a fair level of ability and would have a great each way chance if running up to form.

One at Cork on Saturday

Our best chance of the day on Saturday could come over at Cork with Crystal Dawn in the 7f handicap (5:25pm).

The trip was too sharp for her over 6f last time and she has a better chance back over this distance.

She’s fit, well and we’re really looking forward to running her.

Sunday at Downpatrick

We’re keeping an eye on the weather for Sunday at the moment as the forecast looks pretty mixed, but hopefully we’ll have a few running a Downpatrick.

Lever Du Soleil looks set to line up in the 2m3f Rated Hurdle (2:55pm).

He’s in good form and has been ready to go for a little while. We want to get him going over fences but there aren’t an awful lot of options, particularly going right-handed, so we said we’d get him out and give him a run over hurdles to start with.

He’s in good heart and will hopefully run a nice race.

Aasleagh Dawn will likely run in the mares’ handicap hurdle (4:05pm).

She was a little bit disappointing the last day, and is probably better over fences, but she’ll be suited by this sort of race and will hopefully go well.

Dakota Beat could be our best chance on the day in the 2m6f maiden hurdle (4:40pm).

He was just beaten at Kilbeggan the last day and was third in a maiden hurdle before that, and this time we fancy him to break his maiden tag.

Monsieur Bagot could go for the handicap chase (5:15pm). He’s been off the track for a while so it’s hard to know what to expect, but fingers crossed, while Ruinous is looking to make his debut over fences in the beginners’ chase (5:45pm).

He’s in a race for horses that haven’t won over hurdles and we think he’ll have a chance based on his work at home where he’s been jumping well.
