GREYHOUND PREVIEW: RPGTV hosts a big weekend of action. On Saturday at Limerick it’s the last Classic of this Irish season with the final of the (Matchbook) St Leger as well as a top-class supporting card. Oxford have the quarter finals of the (Bet365) Challenge Cup on Friday and Romford have the usual Friday action. On Saturday evening at Hove it’s the semi-finals of The Olympic and semi-finals of the George Curtis & Ballyregan Bob Memorial.

Huge Weekend ahead on RPGTV

Racing Post Greyhound TV are set to broadcast a massive weekend of top-class action headlined by the final Irish Classic of the season, the St Leger Final from Limerick on Saturday. Add to this the usual cracking cards from Oxford and Romford on Friday, the Olympic semi-finals from Hove on Saturday and the second round of the Puppy Derby from Towcester on Sunday.

Leger at Limerick

MEETING CANCELLED

Bobsleigh Dream has been installed at the 5/4 favorite to land a third Leger for her trainer Pat Buckley. She has put in a couple of stunning performances in the last couple of weeks an has a perfect draw in one. Noted for her finishing kick she has been trapping better recently and with a clear run early she would be hard to contain. The favourite won’t have it all her own way, Trinity Junior, Wi Can Dream and Mustang Jet will all be looking to lead and make all. I have been sweet on Trinity Junior from the begging of this competition and still believe he has more to offer, currently around about 7/1 he represents real value. English Derby winner Romeo Magico is second favourite but to me looks to be facing a tricky draw along with last weeks semi-final winner Annagh Bailey. I’ll side with Trinity Junior to make all and land the final Irish Classic of the season. There is also a terrific supporting card at Limerick and all the action will be live on RPGTV.

Hove Saturday

The George Curtis & Ballyregan Bob Memorial and The Coral Olympic are both at the semi-final stage this Saturday at Hove with three semi-finals due in the Olympic and two semi-finals in the memorial. The first semi-final of The Olympic is due off at 18:43 and the exciting youngster Fromposttopilar faces his toughest assignment to date in this. He was a fine winner over the trip last weekend but faces a much tougher task this weekend. Deelish Frankie was set to win his heat last week before hare malfunctions, he is well drawn on the fence and will look to make all. Hopes Paddington took a flier from boxes last week and was another to make all in a slick time, he will need to lead up Deelish Frankie to have a say. Make Noise was arguably a little unlucky last weekend, he was impeded at the first bend when looking set to go around in front, he rallied well to close on eventual winner Goldies Perryman. Whatever leads in this will surely take plenty of beating, I’ll side with Deelish Frankie to make the most of his drawn and make all.

Derrinasafa Boss ran well behind Fromposttopillar last weekend and can get the better of Lautaro in the second semi-final.

The third and final heat looks to rest between Goldies Perryman and Havana Bale Out. Perryman went up strongly after a slow start last weekend, displaying plenty of determination in the process to see off Make Noise. Havana Bale Out is top class on her day and I fancy her to prove too strong for Goldies Perryman in the second half of this contest.

In the memorial over 740m Space Jet will be long odds on to take the first semifinal. She has a lot in hand on the clock and looks impossible to oppose, I expect she will go off long odds on. Clongeel Ozzie maybe worth a bet in the second semi-final, he set a searching gallop last weekend when picked up late by the reopposing Droopys Senorita. I expect Ozzie to lead a long way this weekend and any trouble in behind will aid his cause, he should go well at a decent price.

Fridays action Romford & Oxford

Oxford
Four quarter finals of the Challenge Cup highlight the Oxford Friday night card. Gizmo Smasher was a costly loser for us last week, he lost little in defeat but just had the wrong one turn so close to him in Droopys Garden who repossess once again. Smasher led until the dying strides last weekend and will once again employ catch me if you can tactics but it’s a tougher heat this weekend with the likes of Savana Ruinart and Havana Lover in opposition, still, I will keep the faith with Gizmo Smasher and hope some trouble in behind may aid his cause in the third quarter final. In the last quarter final, it may pay to take on Antigua Sugar. She has won her last two starts at odds of 1/3 and 1/4. There are a couple of very capable performers in against her on Friday evening and she is well worth a lay at likely shorts odds.

Romford
Caso Consulto (18:58) looks one of the better bets on the Romford card. He was just touched off in a better race than this last weekend when encountering plenty of traffic problems. He is a possible pace setter in this and would be impossible to peg back if he were to lead passing the stands with a lap to go. The Paul Young pair of Jeopardy Dawg and Kingdom Bound are obvious dangers but hopefully Caso Consulto can get first run.

Weekend’s Best Bets:
Oxford Friday: Gizmo Smasher One unit win
Limerick Saturday: Trinity Junior One unit win
