HARRY WHITTINGTON BLOG: Grade 1-winning trainer and ambassador for market-leading betting exchange BETDAQ, looks back on the previous seven days and previews his upcoming runners.

I thought VINNIE LEWIS (main picture) ran pretty well at Southwell on Tuesday over hurdles.

He was always going to need the run and we know he prefers it when there is a bit more cut in the ground. Plus, it looked like he ran into a pretty useful one in Settimo Milanese.

It has worked perfectly as a pipe opener and he’s one we are really looking forward to as the season goes on.

Plans on hold

We had a few entries over the next week or so, but we are having to put plans on hold due to the current state of the ground all over the country.

As with a lot of National Hunt trainers at the moment, we are waiting for some rain to get into the ground. There is no point running horses on quick ground at this point in the season and frustratingly we’ve just got to wait for the heavens to open.

Looking further ahead, there’s a fair chance we’ll head to Cheltenham at the end of the month with BIGMARTRE.

He’s in great order at home and like with most of our horses, we are just waiting on some softer ground, which we’ll hopefully get there.

All the horses are in good order and we’ll just keep ticking them over while we wait for some rain. Fingers crossed it’s not too far around the corner!
