INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY: We preview Tuesday’s clash at the Stade de France between FRANCE v ENGLAND with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
FRANCE V ENGLAND
8pm France v England is the latest ‘Glamour Friendly’ for us to enjoy on Tuesday night and while it’s always hard to know how much the sides care about ties like this, both sides had disappointing results at the weekend and will want to bounce back here. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; France 1.94, England 4.7 and the draw is 3.6.
England looked to have things under control at the weekend against Scotland when leading 1-0 after the 85th minute, however they then ended up 2-1 down and needed an injury time Harry Kane goal to salvage a draw. That means that they’ve only had two wins in their last six games, and looking at their friendly record – they’ve won just two of their last eight away friendlies. You have to factor in though that England play a lot of glamour friendlies these days, but France away won’t be any easier, and the 4.7 on an England win doesn’t appeal as value.
France had a poor result away from home too at the weekend, losing 2-1 to Sweden. However, as we noted in our World Cup Qualifier preview, Sweden had a very solid home record going into that one, and we felt that France were a good lay. So while it was disappointing on paper, we feel that we can forgive them here, and looking at their home record – the 1.94 on the home win certainly appeals.
France have only lost once in their last 18 home games, and that came against Spain – they also won 14 of those 18 games. It’s very tempting to select France as our best bet at around the 1.94 mark, however we feel there is more value in under 2.5 goals at 1.83. Apart from Saturday, England haven’t had many goals in their away games recently and after the poor results for both sides at the weekend, neither will want to lose here and we can definitely see a very cagey start. It could turn out to be quite a dull game, as neither side have to push for the win late on either – so we like the unders at 1.83.
