PREVIEW

Colombia will have surprised plenty of football fans around the world after they managed to take top spot in Group A, which included tournament favourites Argentina. Los Cafeteros picked up two wins and a draw in the group, the draw coming against Argentina.

Perhaps the most impressive factor about Colombia’s top spot finish is that the side didn’t concede a single goal in their three outings. They were the only side in the competition not to do so when reaching the quarter-finals.

In contrast, Peru struggled in Group C, but still managed to qualify as the best third placed team which was enough to land them a spot in the last eight. La Blanquirroja were narrowly edged out by Chile in a fiery game last time out. During the game Giancarlo Carmona was given his marching orders and now will miss the contest.

Colombia sealed first place in a tough group and have the form to book themselves into the semi-finals. Supported by a rock-solid defence, Colombia have enough weapons to edge this tie and with Porto’s Falcao in sparkling form they have the weapons up top.

Colombia have also not lost to Peru for seven matches and it therefore makes sense to back them to win at around 1.78 on the ‘Daq’.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Colombia at around 1.78: 5 points

Thursday’s Return: +3.05 points
