PREVIEW

It’s time for Arsenal to put a miserable summer behind them on Saturday when Swansea visit the Emirates. Arsene Wenger’s outfit will be furiously champing at the bit to make amends for their awful performance at Old Trafford and it could be a long afternoon for the Swans.

Although the Gunners have hardly been watertight, they should be able to contain the visitors, who have yet to score on their top flight return. I don’t see anything occurring other than a straightforward home win.

The arrival of some fresh blood will have boosted morale about the club. Per Mertesacker, Mikel Arteta, Park Chu-Young and Yossi Benayoun are the most likely to be included among Wenger’s new boys and they could hardly ask for a more comfortable introduction.

Despite gaining promotion last term, Brendan Rodgers’ men weren’t good enough on the road. They lost eleven times on their travels and if they found it tough going outside of South Wales in the Championship then they are going to have serious problems in the division above.

For all their possession and pretty football, Swansea’s first away day back in the big time ended in a 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium and if Arsenal are in a clinical mood then they should win this by a couple of goals at least. The hosts are available at around 2.17 on BETDAQ to win with a -1.5 Asian Handicap and that looks a decent bet.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Arsenal with -1.5 Asian Handicap at around 2.17: 5 points
Friday’s Return: +3.85 points
