PREVIEW

The world and European champions come to Wembley tomorrow afternoon and Fabio Capello’s side will need to be at their very best if they are to salvage anything from the contest. England might be concerned to find that Spain have won 27 of their past 32 away internationals, as well as qualifying for Euro 2012 with a 100% record.

Perhaps the most impressive factor in Spain’s cruise to the Euros is that they only conceded six times in eight fixtures in Group H.

In contrast, the Three Lions made life tough for themselves with some poor results at Wembley. Notable results were draws with Switzerland and Montenegro and a narrow victory over Wales. The Three Lions were much better away from home where they won three of their four games.

If things were not tough enough, Capello will be without Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney, while John Terry’s inclusion remains a doubt. Playing the world’s best side without a handful of your most experienced players is not going to be easy. England have also struggled against Spain in recent meetings, losing three on the spin without scoring a goal.

It  should be a competitive first half before the managers ring the usual changes after the break. With home advantage, England are capable of holding Spain, but they may have to come from a goal down.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
