PREVIEW

Already World Cup holders and European champions, Spain’s future looks pretty rosy too. The nation’s march to the final of Euro 2011 was expected and the time has come for the juniors to justify their pre-tournament favourites tag.

But in order to do that, and secure a third title at this level, Luis Milla’s men must do something that no other nation has managed in the past fortnight: put the ball in the Switzerland net.

The latest odds on Betdaq see Spain comfortably at the head of the betting. They can be backed at 1.64 in the 90-minute market or at 1.27 to lift the trophy. The Swiss’ current match odds are 6.4 and they are 3.65 to be crowned champs in their first U21 final.

However, not only have Switzerland yet to concede in this competition, they have reached the final with a better record than their more illustrious opponents.

Both teams needed extra-time to claim a berth in today’s showdown, but the Swiss had previously won each of their group games, whereas Spain dropped points to England. Spain also looked to be heading out in the semis before an equaliser a minute from time allowed them the safety net of an additional period.

Switzerland’s stinginess hints at a close encounter, so backing under 1.76 goals is the way to go and there’s every chance that this could be level after regular time, so back the draw at around 3.85.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
