PREVIEW

Playing a Russian opponent isn’t quite a step into the unknown for Tottenham – they drew 2-2 with Spartak Moscow in the now defunct UEFA Cup three seasons ago – but they certainly won’t be very familiar with tonight’s visitors to White Hart Lane.

They will know, however, not to take Rubin lightly. They were drawn in the same Champions League group as Barcelona in each of the previous two seasons and held them at home last term, a year after beating Pep Guardiola’s team at the Nou Camp.

Both clubs come into this contest unbeaten on four points. Rubin lead the way in Group A on goal difference having beaten Shamrock Rovers 3-0 and drawn 2-2 with PAOK Salonika; Spurs drew 0-0 with PAOK on matchday one and saw off Shamrock last time 3-1 after the Irish side had memorably taken the lead.

Harry Redknapp shuffled his pack in both those matches, and is likely to rest a number of his first team stars once again with an eye on the weekend’s Premier League visit to Blackburn, although he can call on one of the strongest squads in the competition.

The visitors come into this contest after back-to-back victories in the Russian league and are available at 5.0 to take the three points on offer here.

But Spurs are rightly favourites. They beat Liverpool and Arsenal in front of the own fans either side of the Shamrock fixture and should be backed at 1.8 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Tottenham at around 1.8: 5 points
Wednesday’s Return: -4
