PREVIEW

Liverpool return to the scene of one of their greatest victories of their long history when the side travel to Istanbul this evening. Back in 2005 the Reds looked dead and buried when 3-0 down against AC Milan at half time, before an inspired comeback sealed Liverpool’s fifth European title.

Former Reds striker Milan Baros is now with the Turkish club and will be the main threat for the travelling side’s back four. Defender Martin Skrtel will be hoping to make his comeback from an injury to bolster Kenny Dalglish’s options at the back. One key player that the manager will be unable to call upon will be Luis Saurez, who is still recovering from his exploits at the Copa America.

Dalglish will take his squad to the newly opened Turk Telekom Arena and will be prepared for a serious test. The atmosphere can be expected to be rocking inside the ground even though it’s only a pre-season friendly. Liverpool haven’t been too impressive in their warm-up matches to date and a 3-0 defeat at the KC Stadium in their last run-out shows the squad are still a long way off full fitness.

Galatasaray’s last friendly was against Inter Milan and that finished in an uninspiring goalless draw. There’ll be work to do if Liverpool are to find a way through, especially if they couldn’t manage it against Hull at the weekend.

Neither club looks to be in great touch at the minute, so I would recommend backing the draw on Betdaq at around 3.25.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back the draw at around 3.25: 4 points

Wednesday’s Return: -4 points
