PREVIEW

So after one of the most drawn out transfer sagas in football, Cesc Fabregas has finally pushed through his return to Barcelona. Arsene Wenger looks to have a tough old season on his hands with Samir Nasri also on the verge of leaving North London. Having struggled against Newcastle on the opening weekend, Arsenal face Udinese in a bid to reach the group stages of the Champions League.

The Italian side will know exactly what Arsenal are going through after Alexis Sanchez also couldn’t resist the allure of the Catalan giants over the summer. These clubs have yet to meet, but Arsenal will need to improve on last weekend’s goalless draw to open with a win.

However, the hosts form at home in Europe has been very impressive with the side winning nine of their past ten matches – drawing the other. On that run they have been in brilliant scoring form and have rattled in 34 goals during that ten match period.

Goals may be an issue for the Gunners tonight as they are missing Robin van Persie due to a suspension. Gervinho will be available though, as his dismissal at the weekend will only apply to domestic action.

Wenger will have noted that Udinese do not travel particularly well and that they have tasted defeat in three of their last four European matches. Even though the Gunners got off to a poor start in the league – I fancy them to be too strong for the visitors. I would recommend backing a home win at around 1.61 on the ‘Daq’.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Arsenal at around 1.61: 5 points
Monday’s Return: +4.72
