PREVIEW

Swindon host Southampton this evening at the County Ground for a place in the Carling Cup third round where they will meet either Charlton or Preston North End.

The Saints lost their first game of the season at the Walkers Stadium over the weekend having made a blistering start to life back in the Championship. Before the narrow 3-2 loss against Leicester, the Saints had won their opening five matches across all competitions and have looked very sharp.

Richard Chaplow is once again available after his three match ban came to an end over the weekend. The Saints have already played six matches this term and the manager may be keen to put Chaplow straight into the line-up to freshen up the side.

Swindon were well beaten at Shrewsbury at the weekend and have struggled in recent weeks for any consistency. The Robins will be hoping to finish August on a decent note as they continue to stutter in League Two, after suffering their fourth defeat of the campaign over the weekend.

Although the Robins have a good record against the Saints on their own turf, a lot has changed over the past few months and I can see them finding it tough tonight. The Saints are second in the Championship and boast of an excellent scoring record thus far – 16 goals in six contests. At around 1.82 on the ‘Daq’ I’d be inclined to back an away win here.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
