PREVIEW

England edged ever closer to qualifying for Euro 2012 at the weekend as they cruised to victory in Sofia, while Wales did them a huge favour against Montenegro. The Three Lions’ win leaves them three points clear at the top of Group G and they face Montenegro in their final group game.

Gary Speed’s side technically have nothing to play for as they are out of the running, but they would love to get one over their rivals. However, the game in Cardiff showed there is much work to be done for Wales if they are to pull off a surprise result.

England should have really already qualified by now, but they have been let down with some results on their own turf. The past two matches against Montenegro and Switzerland at Wembley have been draws. The visitors will look to get amongst England and hope that the pressure of playing in front of their own fans hinders their play.

The recent head-to-head form is firmly in England’s favour and they have won the past three matches. What is even more impressive is that the Three Lions have won each of those fixtures to nil. Capello was delighted with the overall performance against Bulgaria and especially with the clean sheet after some poor defending in recent outings. The gulf in class between the two nations was very clear during the last meeting and I expect this one to be similar with the finishing line in sight.

A 2-0 England win is currently trading at around 6.4 on BETDAQ and I wouldn’t put anyone off taking that price. It will also be worth having a bit on the 3-0 correct score at around 6.8.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back England to win 2-0 at around 6.4: 2.5 points
England to win 3-0 at around 6.8: 2.5 points
Monday’s Return: -6 points
