PREVIEW
Manchester United will travel to Elland Road tonight for the Third Round of the Carling Cup against Leeds. The Red Devils hope to continue this season’s unbeaten streak across all competitions, with odds for an away win at 1.51 on BETDAQ.

Leeds crashed out of last year’s Carling Cup campaign in Round Two when Leicester City beat the Whites 2-1 on their home turf. But Manchester United were hammered 4-0 by West Ham in the Fourth Round of the competition, who have now joined Leeds in the Championship table.

The two clubs last faced each other in the Carling Cup in the 2003/2004 season when Manchester  United narrowly edged past Leeds 3-2 at Elland Road in a game that went to extra time after a 1-1 stalemate at the 90-minute mark. Quite unfortunate, considering Leeds have never come out victorious in all four of their Carling Cup matches against the Red Devils.

Simon Grayson’s side may be heavily relying on Ramon Nunez to keep them in the fixture, as the midfielder has scored twice in each of the two previous rounds against Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers respectively.

Tonight will be the first match for Manchester United in the Carling Cup and with The Reds already looking on course to win their 20th Premier League title, Sir Alex is likely to rest his key players. But even with a second-choice side and the fact that the hosts beat United 1-0 at Old Trafford in last year’s FA Cup encounter, Manchester United still look in excellent shape to reach the fourth round.
