PREVIEW

Manchester City will already be looking ahead to the derby against United on Sunday from their loft position at the top of the Premier League pile, but they have a vital Champions League tie to get through first.

After a 1-1 draw at home to Napoli and a 2-0 loss in the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich they have some work to do in Group A and dropping points again would seriously increase the threat of elimination.

Roberto Mancini will, though, be confident his side can break their duck in the competition against Villarreal. The La Liga outfit have yet to score in the section, going down 2-0 in both previous outings, and are unfancied at 11.5 on BETDAQ.

The Spaniards are also struggling domestically. They sit midtable in La Liga with just one victory to their name in seven matches and drew their last contest 0-0 with relegation contenders Getafe.

With City trading at as short as 1.35, it could pay to go down the Asian Handicap route.

Napoli are the only team to deny City victory at the City of Manchester Stadium this term across all competitions. In their other five outings they’ve won by at least two goals, so backing City at 2.14 with a -1.5 handicap appeals.

Furthermore, the last time they were in England, Villarreal lost 3-0 to Arsenal in the 2008/09 Champions League quarters.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

City (-1.5) at around 2.14: 6 points
Monday’s Return: -5
