02 Dec 2011 FA Cup Fleetwood Town 2-2 Yeovil Town

PREVIEW

Fleetwood Town left it late to keep their FA Cup dream alive as Jamie Milligan’s 89th minute penalty earned a replay for the Blue Square Premier club. This time Yeovil are the home side and if the game is anything like the first meeting, then fans are in for an entertaining evening.

Since the 2-2 result at Fleetwood, Yeovil went on to beat Notts County 1-0 to lift themselves out of the dreaded League One relegation places. The important win stretched the Glovers’ unbeaten streak to six games across all competitions. Manager Terry Skiverton would have liked a few more victories during that run, but it’s vital to keep momentum going as the busy festive period draws ever closer.

In contrast, Fleetwood suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Northwich which saw them eliminated from the FA Trophy. Even with the cup loss, Fleetwood won’t be too disappointed as they remain second in the table with a game in hand on league leaders Wrexham. The Cod Army have been excellent on their travels this campaign and have only suffered two defeats in eleven away league games since August.

There was not much to separate the sides a fortnight ago, even with Fleetwood playing two leagues below. In a tight game like this, home advantage is key and with that I’m happy to tip up a Yeovil victory at around 2.17 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Yeovil at around 2.17: 6 points

Monday’s Return: -4.00
