PREVIEW

Chelsea travel to the Mestalla Stadium tonight to face Valencia for their second group stage fixture. The Blues currently top their table after a 2-0 win over German side Bayer Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge.

These two sides have not met since the group stages of the Champions League in 2007, however, Chelsea’s summer signing, Juan Mata, will be returning to his former club Valencia after only a month.

The 23-year-old 2010 World Cup winner spent four years with the Spanish side, making over 100 appearances. He has already scored twice for Chelsea, with both goals being scored in the 90-minute, one of which came in the victory over Leverkusen.

Blues manager André Villas-Boas has only lost one game since taking charge this season, and will be hoping to fulfil Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s ambitions of winning the Champions League title to help secure his managerial position next year.

He will be glad to know that Chelsea has beaten Valencia 2-1 on both the occasions the Blues have played at the Mestalla Stadium. The visitors are available at around 2.46 on BETDAQ for the away win tonight.

Meanwhile, Valencia have only managed a goalless draw in their first group game of the competition against Genk away from home. They have only met Chelsea four times before, with the Spanish side’s best result being two away draws.

But with this being his first meeting with the Blues, manager Unai Emery will want to snatch all three points from tonight’s game. A home win for Valencia is going at around 3.1 on BETDAQ, whilst a draw is at around 3.25.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Chelsea at around 2.65:  4 points
Tuesday’s Return: +3.16 points
