PREVIEW

Charlton and Brentford lock horns this evening in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy looking to reach the third round of the competition. The hosts are flying in League One and after 11 matches they hold a four point lead at the top of the table.

Chris Powell’s side head into this evening’s clash on the back of some fine form that has seen them win four of their past six league fixtures. Charlton are unbeaten in League One since the start of the campaign and they comfortably beat Sheffield United 2-0 at Bramall Lane last time out.

The Bees are not exactly in bad form and they are only just outside the play-off places on goal difference. Manager Uwe Rosler is doing a fine job at the club and somewhat surprisingly they are performing much better on the road in the league than at home. The Bees have won four of their last five away league games, so Charlton can expect a tough test.

These two clubs met on three occasions last season and the Bees won two of those contests. Leon Legge’s 89th minute winner sealed all three points on Brentford’s last visit to the Valley – another here can be backed at around 4.4 on BETDAQ.  Charlton actually met Brentford in last year’s competition in a game that finished goalless after 120 minutes, before they were eliminated on penalties.

The Addicks are playing brilliantly at the minute and will be after revenge after last campaign’s cup disappointment and I would recommend taking the 1.85 on BETDAQ for a home win.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Charlton at around 1.85: 5 points
Tuesday’s Return: +5.44 points
