PREVIEW

Aston Villa’s unbeaten start to the season is sure to come under severe threat when they visit Etihad Stadium at the weekend. Roberto Mancini’s city are level on points with the league leaders and are second only on goal difference.

Manchester City have been unstoppable at home since August in the league and they maintain their 100% record after three matches there. Not only are City scoring bagfuls of goals, they have also yet to concede a home league goal.

Villa took all three points in their last league game against their next opponents, but they have really struggled at City’s ground. In fact they have lost their past five encounters there and have been well beaten during that barren run. They also failed to score in both games at City last year and in the process conceded seven times.

Further concern for those Villa fans making the journey north is that their side has yet to win away from home in the league – drawing all three of their matches. Those games have been at Fulham, Everton and QPR – of which none have made a fantastic start to the campaign.

Mancini’s side were back to their best against Blackburn and now back at home, they should prove far too strong for Villa. Alec McLeish’s side have been strong at the back, so City will be made to work for the win.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Man City at around 1.38: 7 points
Tuesday’s Return: +3.9 points
