My next match with a recommended bet is in Wednesday’s clash between Alizé Cornet v Jelena Ostapenko scheduled for 10am in the St. Petersburg Ladies’ Trophy.
The BETDAQ market points to Ostapenko as favourite which looks about right.
The two have only met twice previously. Cornet came from a set down to win at the Cincinnati Masters whilst Ostapenko levelled things up by winning at Linz but Cornet was forced to retire in the second set that day and the form can’t be taken reliably.
However, Ostapenko is now rated 21 points higher than Cornet and she is eight years younger so that explains why the Latvian is favourite and although Cornet is a tough battler – overall her form seems on a downwards graph as opposed to the progressive Ostapenko who should get safely through to the round of 16.
