Andy Murray is in action again overnight – it’s one for the night owls with his match against Felix Auger Aliassime set to start no earlier than 2.15am and I wouldn’t go long odds about it being yet another lengthy affair.
In the one corner you have the experience, tenacity but fragility of Andy Murray against the emerging talent of Felix Auger-Aliassime out on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
There’s 13 years between the pair who have never met competitively.
Auger-Aliassime said: “Andy is a great champion and I’m going to prepare myself for a battle. I’m going to expect the best from him. Obviously, we’re all glad to see him back. I watched the whole way of his recovery. It’s good to see him playing good again and healthy. It’s an honour for me to face up with a guy like Andy.”
Auger-Aliassime defeated Thiago Monteiro in the first round continuing the good form he showed prior to the suspension of the ATP Tour when he reached back-to-back ATP Tour finals.
The exertions of the first round game may well prove too much even for someone with the constitution of Andy Murray and Auger-Aliassime should reward favourite backers.
