🇫🇷  MATCH POINT: Our tennis tipping column previews the French Open first round match on Monday between Angelique Kerber v Kaja Juvan with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Some work to do on the P&L front after a disappointing US Open where I was right with Thiem in the final but wrong with the set score.

The French Open is now underway at Roland Garros – pushed back four months from its usual slot.

The good news is that BETDAQ are continuing their 0% COMMISSION offer on tennis for the duration of the French Open.

Day one on Sunday proved carnage for the Brits with Andy Murray losing in straight sets to Stan Wawrinka and Britain’s number one Dan Evans beaten by Kei Nishikori – that match going the distance and could easily have gone either way.

The news wasn’t much better in the Women’s tournament either with Johanna Konta defeated in straight sets by 16-year-old sensation Coco Gauff.

Plenty of headaches too for the tournament organisers in the unfamiliar autumn slot in Paris. Many players complained of it being ‘too cold’ to play!

Victoria Azarenka added: “It’s completely ridiculous. It’s too cold, what’s the point, sitting here like ducks.”

And there were problems with the balls too…..

Dan Evans didn’t hold back: “Some of those balls we were using you wouldn’t give to a dog to chew. Maybe they got it a little wrong with the balls. It’s tough to get that ball to go anywhere. That ball’s a bit too heavy, I think.”

Monday’s action gets underway early and my first bet is Angelique Kerber to beat Kaja Juvan in their match which is scheduled for 2.15pm.

Kerber, seeded 18, should have far too much experience for her younger rival. There are 81 places between them on the WTA rankings.

The French Open is the only Grand Slam missing from Kerber’s collection and she is now back with with former coach Torben Beltz, who has guided her to some of her best results and hopefully can conjure some improvement on her clay court game.

The pair have never met but Kerber is taken to win at around 1.86 on BETDAQ and in straight sets at 2.7 on the BETDAQ SPORTSBOOK.

MATCH POINT BETS:
5 points win KERBER TO WIN 2-0 at around 2.7 on BETDAQ SPORTSBOOK
9 points win KERBER TO WIN at around 1.86 on BETDAQ

(ALL SELECTIONS TO DATE -13.66 points)
