Three reasons to back Miami
1. The Dolphins looked great in their season-opening win over New England, easily handling a team that entered the season as a Super Bowl favorite. Now they get the Buffalo Bills, a flawed team that’s overvalued right now after their Week 1 victory in Chicago, a game in which the Bears simply couldn’t stop Buffalo’s bread and butter: the running game.
2. This is a battle of two young quarterbacks, and Miami’s quarterback (Ryan Tannehill) is a rising star while Buffalo’s (E.J. Manuel) is still looking to prove himself after a disappointing rookie season. If this game comes down to E.J. Manuel vs. Ryan Tannehill, the Bills are in trouble.
3. Miami’s defense is stout up front, which should bode well against a Buffalo offense that will look to establish the run. The Dolphins will succeed where Chicago failed last week: they’ll slow down the Buffalo rushing attack and force Manuel to beat them.
Three reasons to back Buffalo
1. The Bills are playing at home, where they’ve covered in 7 of their last 9 games, and they’re facing a division rival that they know very well. Miami has only covered three times in their last 10 trips to Buffalo.
2. The “thunder and lightning” tandem of Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller did some serious damage in Chicago last week, and Sunday they’ll be going up against a Dolphins defense that ranked 24th against the run in 2013. It’s another nice matchup for the Buffalo offense.
3. Miami has issues on the offensive line and Ryan Tannehill has been sacked more than anyone in the NFL over the past two years. That sets up nicely for the Bills, who specialize in getting after the passer. Tannehill will be running for his life on Sunday.
